Limer I normally agree with your posts but this time I have to strongly disagree. Remember that the police officers come from within our own society and some have been officers for the past 30 years. Do you think we can really change their methods of policing overnight ?

Our past Ministers of National Security e.g the Chinaman followed by Mr Joseph did nothing to keep our forces on par with the criminals in terms of fire-power and this resulted in the criminals getting the upper hand.

The new Minister of National Security is being proactive and trying to get some sort of respect from the would-be criminals.

This recent situation shows that the criminals are brave enough to shoot at a police station and this cannot be tolerated by any means.

Now that is the root of all our problems and we should stop blaming the police, the government, the army and everything else. We have been used to this 'freeness' and 'doh care' way of life without proper parenting for our kids. We have to take ownership and responsibility for all these problems and devise solutions.

Mr Kuei Tung, could you explain some of the circumstances whereby a person who got 40 percent of the votes gets 30 percent of the votes two weeks later ? Also, would you propose a system which would cater for every mathematical probability ?

I agree with you Educator. We have become so blinded, suspicious and oppose everything that the government tries to do that we now cannot see the positive contributions these gentlemen have made to T&T. It is an honour to serve your country and be recognized for whatever good you have done. If my memory serves me right the recipients are selected by an awards committee based on individuals who have been nominated for these awards. The PM is not directly involved.

Very well said. It is time we realize that our institutions, politicians and leaders are all part of the collective "US". We are all cut from the same cloth which is the fabric of our society. Changing the government or our leaders is only fooling ourselves with a false sense of hope. Real change must come from each and every one of us doing our part and making positive contributions rather than the negative approach we adopt by simply playing the 'blame game'.
