Steve Lundeberg : Lundy: Web reaches Linn County

I grew up in Corvallis. Spent 23 years as a resident and never seemed to encounter any kind of snobbery there. About 5 years ago I moved to Albany because I was searching for a better deal on buying a home and at the time I could save massive amounts of money by moving 12 miles east. As soon as I told people about the move they asked "Why?" or had a concerned look on their face and said "I'm sorry". Over this time I've noticed a very obvious attitude from many residents. Apparently I am being lessened in some way by living in Albany. Personally...I like it here. And yes, I have the internet.

Steve Lundeberg : The death of cursive?

I don't think even once in my life, outside of school, have I used cursive. I agree that for most people it is more difficult to read. With the development of computers and word processing, I think cursive is out the door and will start looking for my shovel as soon as possible.

Steve Lundeberg : Badges of honor

I have a scar a long the bottom of my chin from when I was 9 or 10 and fell face first onto the edge of a curb. It has healed nicely. I have to admit I'm rather proud of that battle wound. (Battle with a curb??) Along with that I have three surgeries scars each about 2 inches long from a burst appendix, and two hernias. All of this before the age of 27. Is this good or bad? I guess I've never broken a bone...

Marilyn Smith : Faking it

One thing to remember is that all financial institutions use the internet to run debit cards, credit cards, etc. It's not the internet and social sites that should worry you, it's using simple passwords, having your security question be something obvious, clicking on phishing sites or downloading from sites you don't trust or don't use https. In my opinion, being honest on a social networking site IS the point. I always use my birthdate. People can find my date of birth all over the place anyways. My birthdate isn't tied to any of my finances, no passwords that I use on Facebook match my bank accounts, etc. It's all in how you use the web. Be smart, be safe, it doesn't mean you have to lie.

This is Travis the Blog Master, and I swear there was no unholy deal between me and any photographers. Everything was completely holy and in fact, I could only find your staff photo, which is placed above in a powerful, moving, poster size.
