"More than 30 million unique visitors came to Mississippi to visit the state’s 30 operating casinos in the last year alone." Unique visitors? What an odd thing to say. I can tell you from personal experience, throwing up a casino does not put any money in the the schools. The only ones making bank are the fat cat owners of the casinos, and the politicians are standing in line with their hand out waiting for their pockets to be lined. One city who was promised money was going to come flowing into the schools, hasn't done an audit in 7 years and has not been paid a penny since inception 9 years later. This is a farce, nothing more than a slick snake oil sales pitch. Even Mayor Seevers can't be this stupid and gullible.

Iwannapuke you are so blinded by your ignorance it's almost comical. It sounds like you have a huge chip on your shoulder. I suggest you attempt stepping into the shoes of a teacher by becoming a substitute teacher, but you'll have to have some college under your belt to do so. If you qualify and make it past the first hour in a classroom, then come back here and post your nonsense.

I enjoy and appreciate all the fishing articles. I will continue to read them all. Some readers should do just the opposite and perhaps take it a step further, how about just stop reading and commenting all together if you don't like the headline. It's getting really old. They've taken negative to the Nth degree. I'm sure the Log won't fold if you stop reading and I'm sure no one will miss all the negativity and the know it all ego driven posts. Try embracing the beauty in life instead of always finding the negative. Jeez it's a piece on fishing in OUR community for Pete's sake! I'm quite certain there are plenty of reader's who love to read all the pieces written about what our beautiful slice of paradise has to offer.

Perhaps the investigators have not collected all the facts and don't feel the need to sensationalize this family's tragedy to those who are sad, weak, and love to put their nose where it does not belong. Your ignorance, arrogance, and lack of compassion is appalling.

I hope they fire him for drawing unwanted attention to their station.
NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- A federal scientist says a recent surge of baby bottlenosed dolphin deaths has a precedent four years ago in Texas. In March 2007, 68 dolphins washed up in Galveston and Jefferson counties. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration scientist Blair Mase says those included an unusual number of infants. NOAA spokeswoman Kim Amendola (am-en-DOH-luh) says that this year in Mississippi, Alabama, the Florida panhandle and Louisiana, 48 dolphins were stranded and 29 of them were calves. The calf deaths were concentrated in Mississipi and Alabama. Possible causes include cold winter and disease. Scientists also are investigating whether there was a link to the BP oil spill. But they say the only spike in deaths is in one dolphin species. THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP's earlier story is below. NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A scientist says the deaths of about two dozen baby bottlenose dolphins is unprecedented in 30 years of studying dolphin deaths in the Gulf of Mexico. Moby Solangi says the Institute of Marine Mammal Studies in Gulfport, Miss., has no record of previous mass deaths in which the majority were infants. The recent deaths occurred in birthing areas off Mississippi and Alabama. Six bodies intact enough for dissection were a mix of stillborn, premature and full-term calves that died shortly after birth. Solangi says possible causes include cold winter and disease. He said scientists are investigating whether there was a link to the BP oil spill. But he says only one dolphin species - and no other kind of animal - appears to be dying in unusual numbers.

I don't have to take responsibility for over extending myself because I wasn't one of those flippers who thought they'd make a quick buck, like many who bought in EG. I heard the sales pitch and I didn't buy his sales pitch! And don't kid yourself, no one bought the sales pitch because the market was "awesome". Did you ever hear the sales pitch or read the slick pamphlets? I doubt it. He has no morals so none to agree with. I don't admit he builds a good project because I do not think that monstrosity is a good project. It's an eye sore that doesn't belong at the foot of the harbor blocking EVERYONE'S view. Who says no one is entitled to that view? I guarantee that there are more people who feel they ARE entitled to THAT view. Unfortunately our pockets weren't deep enough and voices weren't loud enough to save a view that was enjoyed by so many.

I doubt he "complied" with the cities tier system. More like put enough money in the back pockets of those who could get it done the Bos way. But trying to convince yourself and others that he "complied" must allow you to sleep a little easier at night. You certainly need to educate yourself on that development in its entirety, from the first day until today, instead of throwing around your credentials. EG is no saving grace now or ever. Just ask those who bought his EG sales pitch, hook line and sinker. They can't give those units away, many are in foreclosure and bank owned. You feel a lot of people are just jealous of his success? You must be on his payroll. Either that or an EG owner who is still drinking the Bos koolaid.

Bos claims he was blown away by the view of the Destin Harbor? It should read, Bos blew away the view of the Destin Harbor. What a crock this whole rear kissing diatribe is. How on earth do you file bankruptcy one day, and the very next day buy up the land at Destin Harbor? Bos must be in need of some ego stroking.

Red light cameras are nothing but a cash cow for the "administrator". It's already been proven in many states across the country, that the red light cameras do NOTHING to enhance safety, although that's exactly what they tout when trying to sell them. They do nothing but line the pockets of the red light camera makers, the red light admin and those on the council. It's all about lining someone's pocket, at OUR expense. Ridiculous!
