Adding a ton of weight in the back of your rear wheel drive vehicle only helps to make it harder to stop, a very thin line of weight to over weight exists, it depends on the front end weight, just balance, I saw so many that put so much their rear bumpers were near the ground, and they were all loosing control.

Front wheel drive, small, very light weight, studded tires all the way around, runs circles around anything, and stop much faster, and if the same car is 4 wheel drive, you have much more weight, and can actually get you stuck easier in some cases.

Never stomp your breaks, pump lightly, but hard enough to stop the wheels for a split second, and repeating rapidly, to maintain some control, ALSO remember to check brake fluid levels, most cars will loose some during this period.

I saw so many with big 4wd vehicles bragging at the post office and later on the road running everyone off because they CAN'T drive, and so scared they go down the center of the road.

UNSKILLED DRIVERS have no right to be on the road in the snow, many people are willing to teach, and it is easy to learn, and its more than driving, its also seeing the contour of the ground, knowing the ice and snow types, and good studded tires, old worn spun down studs are worthless, try not to spin your tires, especially on pavement.

A Point to Consider.

Our police have been busting people for WRECKLESS DRIVING, this past week in the snow. Those same people who were busted are the only ones who seem to be able to drive safely in the snow, and able to avoid an accident.

Would you want some white knuckled jerk who never learned how to control a vehicle in snow and ice and has no experience sliding a vehicle, driving you in an ambulance to a hospital in a snow storm?

If nobody is able to learn to control a sliding car, they never learn to drive in snow, and thus are not skilled and may get caught in a sudden storm and kill you when they lock up their breaks and go into a totally out of control slide into your door....
I do not say go out and slide all over on a crowded street, but so many got busted this week in EMPTY parking lots LEARNING TO CONTROL CARS IN ADVERSE CONDITIONS AND GAINING A NEEDED SKILL!!!

You got that right, but remember, that's too easy, and it doesn't cost enough to do it. And also you will get jerks who say "don't close my street, close that one", too bad they never thought of that when they choose to move there...

It reminds me of excessively fat people sitting around complaining of other people eating too much.... LOL... Like Mayor Fatnick complaining about homeless eating in the parks....

The east coast is very flat, the runoff rate carrying the salt out is much slower than here. we have a steeper grade, and many more rainy days, our ground is washed good here. On the east coast things settle onto the ground and accumulate, and the snow buildup there is generally more and colder up there in the northeast, thus the partially melted snow and slush that packs up in the wheel wells freezes over night and stays, and can stay for a couple months, giving way to extensive exposure to the salt, where as here it doesn't happen, but in eastern Washington it is different and they don't have the corrosion problems of the east coast, so one would have to suspect even the possibility of other sources...

In past years, 50's, 60's and 70's, I remember far more snow than this tiny dribble, and rock salt everywhere. Sad to see so many so weak, to complain too cold, to wet, too much snow, and comparing our snow and conditions to the east coast don't match, our hills, and warmer snow, generaly wet snow, is a job to move, where the colder dry powder snow is easy to move, and drive in.

I do agree the politicians screwed up BAD, and should not have tried to cover up their abuse of our tax dollars to be used in their life styles (Lear jets, booze), by not clearing roads, and letting it become a problem. Just goes to prove there is no politician in this state that has enough knowledge for anything more than to steel tax money for their own use.

Yep, Oregon has better Dumbocrats in charge, a Big Mac will now cost $175 in Oregon to cover the tax for cow farts.... Maybe they forgot they fart too? I think the politicians there should pay $1,000 per fart that they emit. Seems they forgot all the vegetation left over after growing vegetables rots and produces the same gas whether laying on the ground or buried... Just a natural process..... Did they forget how many bison and horses that used to run wild here, not to mention all the other types of 4 legged farting animals, if the cows are any sort of problem, then we shouldn't even exist due to the MASSIVE NUMBERS of gas passing animals in the world 200 years ago... Intelligence in politicians? What is that?

As for the erosion, and or corrosion, it happens whether or not salt is used, salt corrodes soft metal a bit faster, but if that was so bad why do we allow METAL SHIPS to sit in the water? Salt is no problem at all, but those chemical deicers are bad news, the break linings made today wear out fast and UN-LEADED GAS is deadly stuff, reddish brown toxins spewing out in higher levels of what LEADED GAS put out, all you people used lead in many things, and your still alive, but a trace in something is DEADLY. How many millions of people used to bite lead fishing weights on their line and died from it? I can see on the roof of my truck in my driveway, 4 clear layers of snow and ice, as today's so called scientists of GLOBAL WARMING claim, those are ANNUAL LAYERS, so I guess I got 4 years of snow and ice.... 2 planes in Seattle from WW2 were dug from 200 feet of ice in Greenland a few years ago, now in a Museum in Seattle, if they were annual layers, the number of layers should have been roughly 60, not the thousands that were there. Now how did those planes land in the ground UNDER all that ice? If it had been melted and rose the oceans level, they should have landed in the ocean........ Just stop, look, think, some things we can't get around without KILLING the ENTIRE HUMAN RACE.... STOP FARTING EVERYONE! You might kill a mosquito....

The law states that ALL FULL POWER TV Stations are to be carried in FULL IN
LOCAL AREAS BY ALL RETAIL CABLE COMPANIES, which also covers dish network, direct tv, and the like. AND they are to carry them FREE, NO EXTRA CHARGE TO CUSTOMERS.

And DIGITAL SIGNALS SUCK, they only work 10 miles, after that the signal breaks down rapidly, the current analog signals go 60 to 80 miles.....

So were all getting burnt...
