I anticipate that I will see the mayor over and over and over again!

Ottawa Toasts! Are you going to the Great Glebe Garage sale tomorrow? I am, and I am very excited! Last year my best purchase was a $100+ milk frother that I got for $40 without even negotiating.

I like looking at all the super-realistic beaded leaves and flowers and fruit tutorials but have not made the jump into buying supplies.

I have a set of these and I particularly like that I can clip them in a different position than the standard garter belt layout. I normally clip two in the front but instead of putting the other two in the back I have them placed on the outside of my thighs so they're not uncomfortable to sit on at my office job all day.

Bonus: if I clip them to the hem of an undershirt or button up shirt, they stop the shirt from riding up!

Two weeks ago someone suggested that we all Google our parents and you guys, this is advice I should not have taken! My mom is the subject of a documentary that I just assumed was not legit and that nobody would see, but it turns out that it played all over North America and Europe, including my own tiny artsy Mayfair theatre here in Ottawa.

You guys, all the beardy hipsters in town saw a documentary about my mom what is this even.

Me too! Labrador eyes are always so tragically sad when there's food around, but then their excited ears give them away.

I live in an apartment and my dog has never really learned how to bark properly (she is a border collie/lab mix) so for a long time she didn't have a way of alerting me she wanted to go outside and so we just had a really strict schedule! But then she learned by accident to press a button (kind of like the Staples Easy Button, I guess) that has a picture of C3P0 on it and plays a recording of his voice if you press it.

My dog uses it to tell me she wants to go out, or she's out of water, or she doesn't feel like anyone is giving her the attention she deserves, so I will often be elsewhere in the apartment and will hear "I have a bad feeling about this" or "we're doomed" unexpectedly in C3P0's voice.

I posted it up thread, but: julienned cabbage (the regular cheap light green globe kind, nothing fancy), thinly sliced on the diagonal green onions, cilantro, julienned cucumber, julienned carrots (buy them in a bag pre-cut if you want to save time, even better if you quick pickle them in sugar/water/vinegar). If you store the cucumber and the cilantro separately, you can keep it in the fridge all week without dressing and it will stay crunchy.

Dressing: soy sauce, a pinch of sugar, sesame oil, rice vinegar, minced ginger (I use the stuff in the tube).

I like to eat mass quantities of these with white rice on the side and way fewer frozen dumplings than I'd normally eat. When I was unemployed, my boyfriend and I ate this meal ALL THE TIME. It is a testament to how much I love I that I still eat it now that I have a job and can afford groceries again.

Also not especially hearty, but easy to eat in huge volumes and very winter appropriate: julienned cabbage (the regular cheap light green globe kind, nothing fancy), thinly sliced on the diagonal green onions, cilantro, julienned cucumber, julienned carrots (buy them in a bag pre-cut if you want to save time, even better if you quick pickle them in sugar/water/vinegar). I think Ben Whishaw is objectively very attractive, but he only does it for me as Q, it's very strange. Even when he costars opposite another crush, Hayley Atwell in a short film called Love Hate, it does nothing for me. My love is very Q-specific.
