Healthy Eats : The 10 Most Common Sources of Sodium

Hi Gene, I'm glad you enjoyed the article! According to the report released by the CDC, both fresh and processed poultry contain sodium. Much of the store-bought poultry is injected with a sodium-solution--- it's a hidden source of sodium that many folks are not aware of. -Toby

Healthy Eats : Healthy Snacks to Grab on the Fly

Hi our2kids, Thanks for your comments. You are right that it does have about 250 calories in the snack, but much of the fat comes from healthy unsaturated fats. The fat takes time to digest, which means that you will feel full for a longer period of time. If you are trying to lose weight or are concerned about the calories, then have half and save the rest for another time or share it with a friend (oftentimes I will share it with my husband and pack some extra cut up veggies too). -Toby

Hi Brittany, For the 2 brands of chemical antibacterial wipes I mentioned in my article, the surfaces don't need to be rinsed after (if you plan on having food touch the surface). For other brands, check the instructions to see if you need to rinse the surface after use. Thanks for your question! -Toby

Hi @urdreammaker, Thanks for your comment! I would suggest seeing a registered dietitian in your area who can go through your specific needs and discuss solutions that work for you. You can find one on the American Dietetic Association's website: http://www.eatright.org/. Click on the green button on the top right corner that says "FIND A DIETITIAN."

Healthy Eats : Dr. Oz's Apple Juice Experiment

Hi Gene, I think you bring up a good point about drinking in very large quantities. Dr. Oz claims that the FDA bases their studies and safety claims on the 4-fluid ounce recommendation that kids should drink daily. However, research does show that kids are drinking more than the suggested amount and most juice boxes are a standard size of 6.75 fluid ounces. Just something else to think about...

Healthy Eats : Talking to the Experts: Fabiola Gaines on Soul Food

Hi Cynthia, Thanks for your comment. Fat has a lot to do wih a type 2 diabetic. Many folks with type 2 diabetes are overweight or even obese. Even a slight reduction of 10 or 20 pounds can be beneficial for blood sugar control. So a typical recommendation for someone with diabetes is to not only watch their carbohydrate intake, but also their fat and calories.
