After a judgment of death has been pronounced, a defendant&amp;#039;s appeal process must pass through four levels of review. Considering the conviction and sentence before the state can execute:  Automatic Appeal,  State Habeas Corpus Petition  Federal Habeas Corpus Petition  Clemency So after all that is said and done, you got about 20 years of B.S. and free living off of the state....
