Hate to be so negative, but these people seem to share two characteristics. They are "self-centered" and "dork", which by the way is not an attractive combination.

Daily Camera.com: : Littwin: A tea party senator for a purple state? - Boulder Daily Camera

Whether Udall believed the lie he was promoting at the time or not, the fact is that there were PLENTY of people across the country who saw Obamacare for the sham and myth it was long before it was even voted on, much less implemented. Unfortunately for all of us in Colorado, Udall was not one of those people with the foresight necessary to be an asset to his constituents, and we all collectively now get to suffer the consequences. That reason alone is enough to disqualify him, and the fact that he will continue to attempt to represent us in light of his lack of needed foresight shows us that in his mind, his own ego is more important than the people he represents.

Daily Camera.com: : Michael Bloomberg donates $350,000 to fight Colorado recall efforts - Boulder Daily Camera

Why is it not illegal for out-of-state money to come in and essentially buy Colorado elections? It seems outrageous to me, but no one ever seems to even mention it. On a national scale, people become completely unglued if China tries to fund one candidate or another. Where's the outrage when Colorado politicians and issues are bought and paid for by often shadowy out-of-state influences and organizations? This should be the number one issue for the next Colorado legislative session. Let's see how many of our state politicians are willing to stand up for COLORADO CITIZENS in the face of outside financial influence.

Daily Camera.com: : President Obama asks \'soul searching\' after Trayvon Martin shooting - Boulder Daily Camera

You're dead wrong. If you give someone an advantage because of their race, you are effectively telling them that their race makes them inferior. The effect is that you are subconsciously planting the idea in black kids minds all over the country that they are inferior, for who are they to argue with the largest institution on the face of the earth? Couple this with the common instance where you may have an intelligent and highly capable but young and uneducated black male. Think there might be some subconscious outrage there? Maybe manifesting itself in an affinity towards self-deprecating and violent rap lyrics, a rejection of the American environment, a lashing out attitude towards the 'white man', wanton criminal behavior? Any of that ring a bell? Just a theory. And I'll tell you something else. I think you just called me a racist, and I resent it. That seems to be a reflex action of many on your side, and it's extremely tiresome that your side routinely uses offensive rhetoric so flippantly and casually. And perhaps you can explain what is 'equal' about equality legislation. If it was properly named it would be called 'inequality legislation', because that's exactly what it is. The overall effect of such legislation is opposite of it's stated intention, and I suspect that many at the highest levels know that and perversely use it for political advantage. And here's a definition for you since it seems many don't know the real definition: Bigot - "a person who is intolerant of any ideas other than his or her own, esp on religion, politics, or race" Look in the mirror.

Slaves have not been imported into this country for 200 years. The Civil War has been over for 150. If a group of people, whoever they are, can't pull their heads out after that period of time, then maybe there's other issues. Playing 'victim' and blaming other groups for whatever woes does not evoke a lot of sympathy from me. All groups of people have had trials and tribulations at one time or another. My wife's' grandmother was a slave to the Nazis in WWll and was forced to work in a munitions factory. So what. Do you think it's made a bit if difference in her ability to be successful? As a white male in his 50's, I have seen blacks get preferential treatment over me for 40 years, from the Navy, to educational opportunities, to job opportunities. Not to mention preferential treatment for minorities in a myriad of government programs and contract opportunities. To a large degree this doesn't bother me because we all have disadvantages, and as imperfect humans we all have to deal with that, persevere, and work through it whatever it is. At some point people need to take responsibility for themselves and step-up. With all the incredible opportunities this country offers ANYONE, I simply fail to have a lot of sympathy. Here's something to think about. Do you think it's possible that if the biggest institution in the world (the US Government) didn't consider certain groups as inferior, that those groups might subconsciously actually have higher opinions of themselves, and thereby be more successful and have better and happier lives as a result? That is the effect when the US Government basically deems a certain group as needing help. Right now, BY LAW, certain minorities are effectively deemed as inferior. That is against all this country stands for, and in my opinion is wrong and evil.

"He said that distrust shadows African-American men, that they sometimes are closely followed when they shop at department stores, that they can draw nervous stares on elevators and hear car locks clicking when they walk down the street — experiences that he personally felt before becoming a well-known figure." And EXACTLY whose fault is that?? In some places of this country, virtual armies of young black males prey on people in extremely violent ways. Incredulously, there is often even an air of frivolity. People who do this are scumbags that I have absolutely NO sympathy for. So tell me Obama, Who's responsible for this situation?? Is it really the ignorance of the 'white man' as you are implying? Or is it perhaps something else? Wouldn't you agree that it's about time that people start taking responsibilities for THEMSELVES AND THEIR OFFSPRING? Whether there are legacy cultural issues or not, there is NO excuse for the type of sheer savagery seen in some ares of this country.

In a way this is the perfect case to demonstrate the incredible bias and agenda-based reporting of the media and policy making of our government. Zimmerman has a white name, but is Hispanic, regardless of the new term created by the press specifically for this case of 'White Hispanic'. Zimmerman not only has black ancestry, but grew up in a household with black children. He knows, respects, and is respected by many black people. At the time of the shooting he was tutoring black children on the weekends, even though the program had been shut down, he was continuing his tutoring independently. You would have to search long and hard to find a person with LESS prejudice than George Zimmerman. The press, and certain parts of OUR government, saw the white name and ran with it, completely running over and disregarding George Zimmerman in the process. Personally, I hope to God that this case will start to awaken many to what has been going on in this country for the last few years. The divisiveness perpetrated by extremely powerful forces in this country can be described by one simple word: Evil.

Maybe if young black males weren't responsible for such an incredibly disproportionate percentage of the crime in this country, then maybe people wouldn't be as quick to prejudge them. It is what it is, and if you want to attach a name to it, then that's your business. If it's real, then it's not prejudice, not anymore than saying it makes you prejudice if you happen to notice that blacks are over-represented in the NBA or NFL.

Daily Camera.com: : Boulder cycling lagging behind national trend toward diversity - Boulder Daily Camera

The evil irony in all this race classification business is that on the surface it appears to be one group helping another. But the unconscious message is that certain groups need help because they are inferior. The whole business is disgusting, evil, and needs to stop. Affirmative Action is a good example. It implies that if you are black you need help. And if you are black and don't need help, and have achieved something, you constantly must wear a yoke where others will often view you as a beneficiary of Affirmative Action, even if you weren't. Per the Democrats, you are defined by your skin color. A notion that is inherently evil. Further irony is that people like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are the major proponents. But in Jesse Jackson case, he has used it to incredibly enrich himself and his family with wealth and power. Some would call him a "Poverty Pimp". There's a Pulitzer in there somewhere if his climb to fame and fortune were ever to be fully exposed. In Al Sharptons case, he may just be too stupid to understand, not sure. There are dozens of videos of Thomas Sowell, who has more intellect in his little finger than Sharpton and Jackson put together. If we were a smart society, then this is the type of person we would be paying attention to instead of jackasses like Jackson and Sharpton. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmOpkQM9sOQ

So in your world Zimmerman had his gun out, got the crap kicked out of him and THEN decided to shoot? Whatever. The fact is that a MOUNTAIN of evidence was not allowed in, which clearly showed that Martin was a thug wanabe whose preferred handle was 'no limit nigga'. He was young, uneducated, and full of piss and vinegar. Unfortunately for him and for all involved, he made a bet, stepped in it big time, and paid the ultimate price. I have little sympathy for people who prey on others. And if you want to start wailing on someone for little or no reason aside from maybe sport or boosting your own self image, then you get what you get, whether you deserve it or not.

BS. If it was Zimmermans intention to kill, then he would have had his gun out and ready BEFORE the confrontation, instead of waiting to get sucker punched and having his head beat into the concrete, while Martin told him, "you're gonne die tonight M*****F***er". And perhaps you can explain wth Martin was doing in the 4 1/2 minutes between the time Zimmerman first called non-emergency 911 and the incident, when Martins fathers condo was only 100 yards away. Another curiousity is wth Martin was doing in the 45 mintues between the time he got the skittles and the 911 call, when it's only a 5-10 minute walk. This case is trumped-up from the getgo, and if Zimmermans first name was pronounced "Hor-Hay" instead of "George" then you never would have heard of Trayvon Martin. And you realize that heavy pressure for the arrest and prosecution of this caase came from on-high don't you? http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/jul/11/j... And that PUBLIC GOVERNMENT MONEY was spent on fanning the flames, right? http://dailycaller.com/2013/07/10/doj-provided-se...

What disturbs me about taking direction from children? Dear God is that a serious question? Does 'Lord of the Flies' ring a bell? First of all, anything that comes out of a brain that young is seriously lacking any experiential basis, because well, they don't have any. Secondly, they haven't been around long enough to acquire sufficient education and to contemplate different perspectives. So unless you're telling me this kid is the second coming of Christ, then no, I'm not inclined to take any 'direction' from him. More likely, this kid is the product of liberal warping from infancy, including his name which suggests a rejection of Western culture. That same Western culture that, although not perfect, is responsible for you and I to even be able to debate this topic. If we go back to rocks and sticks, we aren't going to care about this, because we will be a lot more focused on where our next meal is coming from and where our enemies might next attack.

Well now we know. Thank you, although we still don't know which syllable gets the emphasis, if any. And the last 'l' is silent? Interesting. So we can take it that it's pretty much 'free form', at least as far as conventional use of the English language goes. Up until now it might as well have been like Prince and his unpronounceable glyph. So thank you for the clarification.

His comments are not exactly selfless, which is a little disturbing from someone who just won an award such as this. Far more disturbing is that a society would take ANY direction from children, beyond perhaps some inspirational perspectives. But for the kid himself, congratulations. I'm hoping the quote attributed to Winston Churchill will apply, "If you're young and conservative, then you have no heart.
