"Love did not "save" me."

This is maybe the hardest thing for people to understand when they are on the outskirts of a loved one's depression.

I'm a babe in the woods when it comes to the ideas of Ellen Willis. Thus far I immensely appreciate her interpretation of feminism as approachable, a process of personal evolution to fuel cultural revolution.

People are so horrible. Whenever I hear "But faaaaamily..." my fists clench. The worst part, and there were obviously several bad events occurring here, was having to lie to my friend. He let me tell my stupid lie and the whole time knew it was my parents.

Uff to the Cord Jefferson article, sadly his commentary hits home. When I was a sophmore in high school a black friend asked me to homecoming. My mom and dad grounded me because of it. My dad sat me down and very seriously discussed how I would never be desirable to any other man if I were to be seen dating/hand holding/etc this boy. Commence severing all emotional ties with my parents.

What is the deal with self proclaimed "constitutional lawyers" calling into radio shows? I have listened to maybe 3 radio shows in my life and I swear a constitutional lawyer calls in to dispute any rational claim being made. I'm pretty sure they are trained by Fox News and given a cubicle with a phone.
