Gyminee Blog : Coming To A Supermarket Near You

I think this system is a giant step in the right direction. I agree that everyone should know that blueberries are healthier than cookies. But, while we should shop around the perimeter, we all have slipped into an aisle to buy cheap and easy foods for those nights when time is a precious commodity. Where I see the big benefit from this system is in the assessment of similar, questionably healthy items. Exactly how much healthier is the Healthy Choice spaghetti sauce than the Hunt's? What exactly is the difference between regular Special K and the Fruit and Yogurt Special K? These types of differences might (or might not) be surprising and enlightening when you consolidate all of the nutritional numbers into one simple, linear scale. I also see the benefit for someone who is trying to trim their grocery bill as well as there waist. The system makes a cost-to-health benefit analysis easy. E.G. Frozen blueberries might cost 50% less than fresh blueberries and only drop 10% ONQI score. That is a trade-off I would be willing to make.

Gyminee Blog : Coffee: Friend or Foe?

Your should really watch drinking unfiltered coffee if you are worried about your Cholesterol: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/06/0706... Unfiltered coffee, espresso, french press, etc., has a high amount of one of the most potent cholesterol elevators: Cafestol. My cholesterol levels got out of hand whenever I started drinking more and more lattes and switched to a French press. Once I reduced my unfiltered coffee, my LDL dropped significantly.

Oh, I only read studies that come out of Harvard. Just kidding. It sounds like some interesting studies. I look forward to reading your next post... especially if I can start eating omelets again :)

I agree that eggs are great for a normal, every-day diet, but you still need to hold off on the eggs if you are on a cholesterol lowering diet. Even though studies you mention show that eggs don't really raise your cholesterol, it think they would certainly hinder dropping cholesterol. Most suggestions for a cholesterol lowering diet say to only consume 2-3 eggs per week at the most. However, hoping that you do all of the other things to lower your cholesterol, i.e. exercise and eat healthy overall, I think 6-12 eggs per week would be OK. As long as you maintain a good workout regime and as long as you aren't throwing the eggs back with 8 sausage links, gravy, and a bucket of deep fried lard. Mmmmmm... lard.
