Thrifty Mammy : Review: Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes a Day

Hi Cathy, I buy yeast at the supermarket. I don't use starters anymore since switching to this method, but I made my own. there's plenty of recipes out there if you google it! :)

Roisin - A broiler is American for grill... so I believe they mean grill pan. I had a pizza stone from my time in the US so I use it, but I think any tray should work, it will just affect the texture and crust on the bottom of your loaf. If you look at the cuisine de france bread, you can tell they use Silpat, so maybe that's an option too on a regular metal tray. the other thing I would say is to remember that a cup = 8 fluid ounces. For ordinary flour that's approximately 150g, but I'd get a proper cup measure set if you don't have one already. Just to be sure! It's weird for people here that they measure dry ingredients as volume but it somehow works! :)

Thrifty Mammy : An Idiot's Guide to Shopping at Aldi or Lidl

I've heard some horror stories about Lidl too, but my understanding was that they took place in Eastern Europe. Make no bones about it though, both stores push their staff (especially management, I know this only too well from personal experience) to limits that border on legal. I suppose the hope is that in our society, staff could walk away if it were truly bad, although I'm not sure how likely that is in today's economy.

Google Gapbuster. They seem to be ok and have a good few assignments in our area. I did McDonalds, KFC, An Post and Topaz. All went just fine. It's all online based too, which is good! :)

Thrifty Mammy : Menu Planning 101

Yep, it's all a matter of sticking to your guns! :) I find when I make and stick with a plan I average €70-80 per week on groceries, but if I don't it can go as high as €200. I wish I could afford to not worry about that, but I can't! :D

Yes Ruth! Totally forgot about those. I buy them all the time too, especially in frittatas with red onions and their Greek salad cheese and some chopped herbs. Delicious!
