A shame this happened. I don't understand how if she was that close she didn't hear the keys jingle or why she didn't see her daughter's head poked out the top of the car. I have a 5 year old daughter too and she knows she's not allowed out of my sight. I teach her about things that can cause her harm. I teach her common sense. I use common sense. I also have a one year old and she is not aware of the dangers around her, it is my responsiblity to both of them to watch and protect them from the things that can hurt them. She is only one but when she is doing something and I tell her no, she shakes her head with me and stops doing what she's doing. It's so important to keep a watchful eye on our kids. Kids need to be allowed to be kids, but there has to be limitations. It only takes a moment for something bad to happen. It would only take a second for someone to take your child while your attention is elsewhere. Growing up we had a little more freedom, but because my mom was super busy and had her mind on other things, a lot of bad things happened to us that shouldn't have. Keep your eyes on your kids!
