I must say for those people who think we shouldn't have done anything, it was out of pure adrenalin / reaction... there is NO WAY I could just stand by and watch someone burn to death without doing anything at all. I don't even remember people talking to me when I went inside to get a fire extinguisher, only a woman with black hair pointing in the direction of where it was on the wall.

Not 100% sure, it all happened so fast. I thought I did hear some sort of soft chanting coming from near where he was laying but it only lasted a minute, maybe less. It was before the police had arrived. I haven't seen any mention of this anywhere else and didn't watch the news so like I said, I'm not 100% sure.

The police showed up what seemed to be a minute or two later and cleared eveyone out. I asked a female officer if they needed the extinguisher but they had their own from the trunk so I went back to By George and slowly put the one I had grabbed back. There was a feeling of defeat. It really sucks to hear people making light of the situation, making fun... I have a mentally ill sister who recently tried to kill herself... it’s not a joke! We don't even know this poor man's situation so please be courteous.

I was coming from the George Washington statue and all the sudden saw black smoke coming around the corner of Meaney Hall. I tried to call 911 like 6 times but it was busy. People started running and so I went up the stairs (Odegaard to the Left) to see what was happening. A female was running in my direction screaming for help, for someone to get water or a fire extinguisher, she yelled that there was a person on fire. I turned and ran down the stairs into the entrance of By George and was panic stricken asking if anyone knew where a fire extinguisher was or if people could get water. I got the extinguisher ran up the stairs and the man was no longer on fire but there was still some gasoline burning about 10-15 feet from where he was laying. It was insane, there were 2 or 3 other people over there who had also grabbed extinguishers from other buildings but they said not to use it on the gasoline. The man was moaning, someone was chanting softly for a few seconds what seemed to be an attempt to sooth people or the victim. All I saw was the man's arms blackened and he was covered in clothing from bystanders.
