I had extremely high SAT scores and scored in the 89th percentile on the Miller Analogies Assessment (you won't know what that is most likely) which I took cold without studying. I was accepted into the University of Washington's prestigious Marine Science program but choose Education instead (dumb by your reckoning?). For thought, Sociology and Anthropology are sciences whether you like it or not (exempli gratia, scientific process). You cannot fall back on teaching because you are not a licensed, trained teacher. I can tell from your tone (it takes many years to become a teacher not a couple of weeks like your CDL). Plus there are the grammar and spelling errors. On top of that you would be required to meet the current standards of Pro-Cert or National Boards and that is after getting your MAEd or Ed degree. By the way, I received my CDL in college (paid for by the company that hired me); it was CAKE to get (about 45 hours of training and I was driving a dump truck) and about 3 months to get really good at. I planned to toss your own lightly understood logic back at you but this is more enjoyable. You are a silly little intellect who bristles in the presence of superiors. I don’t usually get malevolent but you seem to need it.

Shrug off the manacles of your "blue collar" existence and make a difference in the world.
You are right, CREDO has come under scrutiny due to Stanford Universities pro charter school stance. http://credo.stanford.edu/reports/memo_on_the_cre... Read it. This is only one of the many criticisms on this study but I choose it because it was Stanford itself doing the admonishment.

Keep living the pipe dream. Both of my children are in the 99% percentile academically. My son has been at post high school reading level since third grade and my daughter since second. There are bright kids everywhere. My nephew, just finished in the top 5% at West Point (He was accepted to MIT as a junior). Two of my nieces are at the U.W. finishing their degrees in medicine and one just finished with Law at Gonzaga (she starts with an East coast law firm in September after she gets back from Europe). All of these bright capable students came out of Public Education. Get over your pathetic elitism. With you to guide them your kids will be cleaning the gutters and tending the lawns at my children's residences.

I recommended 3 students for retention this year and our school "Promotion Team" voted me down. In many buildings and in many districts it is not the teacher who has the final say in retention, it is Parents, Administration, Promotion Teams or Building Intervention Teams, etc.

"Various research shows charter schools have been either OK, good or great for school children in 41 other states plus the District of Columbia." Cite your source! There is tremendous support for the contrary. As for Charter Schools: “Traditional public schools have to educate every student who is eligible to enroll. They can't counsel students out, as many charters do, or select who they want” (New York Times). 83% of all Charter schools perform no better or significantly worse (38% of all charters) than Public Schools (Data First). Yes some do better but we could too if we could pick and choose who we allowed through our doors. Charter schools have a much higher rate of admin to teachers and while they pay teachers less they pay admin more. Charter Schools are not a panacea. A study by the National Center for the Study of Privatization in Education debunks the belief that charter schools save money. By looking at charter and traditional public schools in Michigan and Florida, where both receive about the same operational funding, researchers found that charter schools actually spent more per-student on administration and less on instruction than non-charter public schools.

Bush ignored this report on the Public verses Private school debate because it did not fit his version of reality: "The study, commissioned by the DOE's National Center for Education Statistics, looked at 2003 math and reading scores from nearly 7,000 public schools and more than 530 private schools. The study concluded that public school students were performing as well as, and in some cases even better than, private school students from similar backgrounds.¹ These findings conflicted with the Bush Administration's position that handing out vouchers to attend private and parochial schools is the best way to educate poor children who attend failing public schools" If a child attends a private religious school the differences were even greater to the negative.

You have no understanding of NCLB. It fully requires every child, no matter their abilities to meet a constantly rising standard. My sister, a Sped teacher, had to sit next to her Profoundly Mentally Retarded student and watch as this child attempted to take a test that experts state is developmentally inappropriate for many kids at grade level. This kid can't even feed himself and if his parents opt out he would be scored as a ZERO. Remember what a Zero does to averages? This requirement was and is a Joke. In this state the requirement manifested itself as the WASL and then the MSP; both a Billion Dollar joke. Step back from your hatred for a moment and examine it on it's merits.
