Reading Local : Confessions of a Book Nerd: To Be Read

@Earl, I used to work at the library at the University of Puget Sound and I would keep a notebook list of all the books I wanted to read. I worked in new acquisitions so the list got way to big to keep track of.

CarrieP, Yeah, I've decided to just ignore how many I can read and just enjoy as many as possible. And I like your optimism. Living forever is now my new goal. And you just touched upon a subject of a future Confession. - Reading more than one book at a time.

Reading Local : Sailing Away From Safety: How A Book Tour Can Be Like A Storm At Sea

Jaret, Thank You for sharing this. This was outstanding and wonderfully introspective look at what that part of being a writer/artist/publisher/bookseller is all about and what it does to you, what you get out of it. This was great! Thanks too, to RLP for sharing. I'm a writer, who'd like to be a published author and hearing about these types of experiences shines a light on the dark spots in my knowledge base and the sort of mental fortitude I may need to reach those places when it's my turn to tour like that. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. And Now I must find you books for purchase. Keep up the good work Jaret.

Karen, Congrats on the book! My wife and I are Fantasy readers and my wife is always on the lookout for great female authors. I will snag a copy of your book for her when it's out. I'll make sure Gabe includes your event on this Friday's Event list. This a debut Fantasy novel or do you have others out I can already look at? Thanks for stopping by the site. Best, Spencer

Glad that worked out for you. I am hoping to get more and more folks to take part in the poll. It's not the best poll software, that's for sure, but I think it's important for Wordstock to hear feedback from Wordstock fans.

Reading Local : Tonight 2-3: Ariel Gore at Powell's City of Books

Awesome, Ariel Gore is wonderful. I read her "How to become a Famous Author before you're dead." and her Short story in Portland Noir and loved them both. Her Book inspired me to try and start a Zine a couple years back. It unfortunately never went anywhere, but I still have dreams of doing so again. She's a great writer and the new book sounds intriguing, though I suppose I might not get as much out of it as my wife might. Who knows?
