pastapadre.com : Who Should Win the 2009 Heisman?

This guy has been the most dominant defensive player pretty much all year. A lot of what he does doesn't show up in the stat sheet. He had a year this year that was similar to Albert Haynesworth year last year.

I agree. Suh all the way. He was the most dominate player all year. He had a pick where he dropped back in coverage and made a beautiful pick. He looked more like a LB than a DT. He had 4.5 sacks IN A CHAMPIONSHIP GAME...Not a string of games, but a single game with a lot on the line against a quality, ranked opponent. He is easily the most deserving, but a DT will never win it. I'd probably give it to Gerhart second. He was primarily the offense as someone has said. His stats are rediculous. Unfortunately, I don't think either will win.

Revis would NOT shut down Rice in his prime. You must be a youngsta who only saw Rice play when you were a kid. Either that or you are just putting it on thick to make a point.

Wow. That is pitiful. I haven't tried that, but if true, EA screwed the pooch. Maybe that is one of the reasons why they totally screwed up OL progression and franchise pancake numbers. They simply don't matter because EA neglected to take care of the most important part of football...THE LINES.

I got your back on that. However, I might not put Trevor Scott at 80. I'd put him at 79 because of his of his lack of strength and his struggles against the run. Gradkowski should be somewhere between 72 and 75. You are on the money about Tyvon. The kid can play. He's a tackling machine.

You know what...I gotta agree with you. Chuck Woodson should be a candidate for Defensive MVP right now. Just imagine if Woodson was still in Oakland playing on the other side of Nnamdi. That would be downright nasty. It would be like Lester Hayes and Mike Haynes all over again.

Mo, let me explain something for you because you probably don't know the get down with the Raiders defense. The Raiders run a pure man2man 4-3, with the safety usually playing deep middle. The CB's do not match up with specific WR's. They only play ONE SIDE ALL GAME, (so Aso will not be matched up with the #1 WR all game...EVER). Revis usually lines up on the #1 WR most of the game. The Raiders do not run a flexible, (or really even a very modern), defense. They play man about 60 plays a game. NOBODY else does this. They might play about 7% of the snaps in zone and rarely blitz. That's why Nnamdi has been beefin' lately about the scheme. Revis is probably the best man2man CB in the game right now, but Nnamdi is right up there with him. If Revis had to play in the Raiders system, his production would drop. Revis is probably the best right now, but you are downgrading Nnamdi way too much. And by the way, as 5150 said, Austin had 1 maybe 2 catches on Nnamdi all game. Bowe had one catch on Nnamdi. He came out of that game for a while and that is when Bowe blew up on Stanford Routte.

I've watched Rankin for a while and he is NOT a 93 speed. He's not that fast. He's got decent RB speed and should be about a 89 or 90. Speed isn't his game. He's a patient runner, has good lateral movement, reads his block well. But he is not a speed demon.

The LEFT side of the line needs an upgrade. The center through RT suck! Bruce should get a bump to at least 72, but 75 would not be out of the question. His throwing power should go up, as he's shown decent arm strength, especially in the Steelers game. Schilens needs a bump 4 sho! Branches tackling should go up, but his speed is cool where it is at. His play recognition should go up instead. As much as I love him, being from the Town and all, but Morrison is overrated and might need to come down a bit.

Yeah. I don't get that one either. I guess Nnamdi dropped because Chambers made a great catch on a perfectly thrown ball on him. It's not like he's getting beat out there. Seymour? I guess they knocked him down because he only has dominant games every 3 games, and good the other 2. No love for good games...only great ones. LOL Other than than, both have played at a high level.

Uh...Ever think that the defensive yardage stats are inflated do the fact that the defense is on the field more than probably any other defense in the NFL? You know, most teams do not play as many defensive series as the Raiders do. When your offense cannot put drives together and stay on the field, not only does your defense get worn down through attrition, but they also have to be on the field for more series, giving the opposing offense more opportunities to tack on extra yardage stats. If the Raiders benched Russell and DHB, they could easily be 2-1 right now. Heck, if not for unbalanced officiating, (the Louis Murphy MNF catch that wasn't a TD, but has been in every other game since), the Raiders could have been at the very least 1-1-1.

Gallery, since switching to LG and playing in the zone blocking scheme has flourished and become a very good guard. If you only listen to hype, you wouldn't know that. If you've watched him play, singled him out in games and focused on him, you'd see a damn good guard. Last year, he had only one penalty called against him, which is one of the barometers you use for O-Linemen. He's a good run blocker and was one of the reasons the Raiders have had a rushing attack in the top 6 the past 2 years. He was also the Raiders best and most consistent lineman last year, (outside of the great performance that Mario Henderson displayed after he got to start at the end of the year). So...If he sucks so badly, can you at least explain WHY you think he sucks?

He was a bust at LT but he's turning into a very good guard. He's not the first player to do so...ever hear of the name Tony Mandarich? He was one of the biggest busts ever at LT...I'm sure you've heard of that story. However, what you don't hear is that he became a probowl guard. So what did his play at LT have to do with his play at LG? NOTHING. Totally different skill set. It's not quite apples to oranges, but it is apple to at least pears.

Uh...What does the level of Gallery's play at LT have to do with his play at LG? Absolutely nothing. He sucked at LT, but those that have followed his career know he's played LG at near a pro-bowl level the last 2 years. Which is quite an accomplishment since his LT's playing next to him were friggin' Barry Sims and Lame Harris. Even mentioning his play at LT when evaluating his play at LG is ridiculous. One has absolutely nothing to do with the other. Regarding McFadden, what about turf toe in 2 feet don't you understand? Your analogy does not hold weight. That's like us racing cars, you have a Vette and I have a Hyundai, but you blow out two tires and I beat you. Then I say, I have a better car than you do because I had a better time in the race, giving no mention of the fact that you blew out 2 tires. Let me ask you this, have you seen McFadden play when he was healthy?
