GazetteOnline.com : Tuesday Talk -- Arizona

That's pretty Jedi. But that's a movie. The Hawkeyes are for real! ...I hope it wasn't Mitchell. How can he forget a great guy and player like that? Mitchell was on 85 for sure. Maybe in 83 and 84 he was too young to make a mark? That still doesn't make sense. Oh, the Stoops...

Too bad PSU has a true Fr there. But they still have a shot. Bama has only 1 starter returning on D. Unfortunately, for PSU, they lost a lot on D as well. But still take them with that spread, if not the upset.

Mike- Where's ND? I don't like them but they did beat a big 10 team. If Vtech is still that high and NC is still in it, so, where's Oregon State? They played on a road vs a highly ranked team as well. ...it's easy being a critic =) ...What happened to the live game chat this year? Took too much out of you guys? Can you guys do a rotation version of it or something? Only one person would need to man it along with Nick.

GazetteOnline.com : The Pylons -- Eastern Illinois (now with Ferentz contract + Clayborn vid)

I hope they won't burn the red shirts of the young RBs, M-Manley and Derby. Why bother? I think Swanson and Nielsen are fine at S. Let Tanner bulk up (and find his classes). No hurry. Yes agree, can throw Bernstine at S. But then again, deep at S with the class- Tanner, Shumpert and Hitchens, one maybe thrown out there for Sp teams. Yes, Davis is big enough. 300 lbs coming in? Any word as to where Austin Gray transferred to? MSU?

Arizona probably will be ranked when Iowa plays them. Well, unless, they'll lose that trap game up in Toledo =) ...ISU avoided the Tex and OK the last two years. That's now they made the bowl game. If they bowl again, Rhoads gets a raise.

About time Marc- been waiting for more than 48 hours for this article =)__This kid is ripped and got speed. I can see him be a headhunter on KO and Punt teams next year. And will get some plays in at LB like Edds did as a true frosh. Then, he'll be a stable in the lineup for 3 years like those guys mentioned- Edds, Greenway, Hodge...____Do you know if he has to cut much weight for 215? Hopefully, he's 225 normally. Otherwise, a little light to be playing with the big boys. And how high did he place last year?

GazetteOnline.com : Illinois TE picks Hawkeyes

I don't think Gallery was ever offered a BB scholly let alone one by Wis or Indy. Click on the interception clip and see that one handed int. Very impressive. But if he does fill out and be another Gallery, I wouldn't complain. A 6-7 target is very nice to have, especially inside the redzone.

Would be interesting if Iowa ends up at the Sugar Bowl vs Florida. I think the Hawks are solid (even more so with another month of practice- see last year) and I can't stand Florida. This would be a good time to take them on. Cinci would be fun as well. Wouldn't want to match up vs TCU though. Not too excited about Boise ST but I think we will meet them in the Fiesta.____Good weekend for those big recruits to be on campus. Let's hope they open up to the TE for CJ to see. Meanwhile, Seantrel will see what this OL can do- Vandy 300 yds and ARob will get another 100 yd game. But the main story will be the D allowing Minny only 80 yds passing and Sash/Spievey will come up with a pick each after the DL forced Weber to throw up a few desperation passes. 34-13

GazetteOnline.com : Can the Hawkeyes still take Big Ten crown?

Trick play is a sign of desperation. You know KF and co. rarely every go there. But who needs those plays when all you need is to complete a pass or two here and there. Imagine, if Vandy let it rip on that first pass and completed (see the replay for how open that deep was) instead of an int. Also, he overthrew DJK a few times for other deep ones. He'll be better this week. More reps and just the fact knowing that you will play will help him greatly. The key is the OL to keep their DL away from Vandy and to open up the running game (or simply for Brandon). I think Brandon is due for a long run (that wouldn't be called back =). Yes, the Hawks have a shot. With this D, anything is possible. But do we have anymore punt block return for a TD or a pinball pick 6 left in the bag? Go Hawks!

GazetteOnline.com : Last Call -- Northwestern

Yup, was waitin all year for that "loss" that they're not supposed to. Can't stand NW but I guess would be worse losing to the Gophers. Anyway, that many pts underdog to OSU? Love it. Vandy will be fine. In fact, watch out for him next year with more reps... But that's another story... ...Quarterback Terrelle Pryor finished 8 for 17 passing for 125 yards, and rushed for 50 yards and a 7-yard TD on five carries... With numbers like those, we will have a great chance. Control their running game and force Pryor to pass. Be ready for those picks Sash and Spievey =)

GazetteOnline.com : Week 10 -- Crutches and a boot (with video)

Tough position for Vandy to be in. Didn't get a chance to play in garbage time bit Iowa in the butt today. Ricky has been great but where was the block punt for a td or a pinball pick 6? The luck just didn't bounce our way today. I wouldn't put so much stock in Ricky just yet. Vandy and the D will still give this team a chance for an outright conference championship for the first time in ...? Go Hawks!!!

I think it's still more with less. That's an attribute to the coaching staff. It is what it is. Iowa's recruiting classes are usually outside top 25, heck even 30. That 05 class is an exception and those seniors are more than solid. But if you look at the classes by OSU, Mich, Tex, Fla, ND... yikes, their top 15 players are usually 4 stars or more. I have Phil Steele mags for years now and for years they are like that. He posts numbers of position ranked for each recruit and those schools the guys are in the top 50 easily. For Iowa, they would jump to 100 or so after the 5th kid or so (and several not ranked).

Not so fast Marc, I don't think Carrington is that far behind Graham. In fact, Carrington has a better frame/built for DE at the next level. Graham might drop in the draft because of his height, 6-2. But he is a very good player at the college level. ...can't wait for the game. I got a Slingbox now. Can watch all the games now! Yeah!
