It really hit home for me that the gov't has no intention of listening to us when pelosi called us "astro turf" after the tea parties. Call me hopeful, naive, or just stupid, to believe that our gov't would have acknowledged us, and the road to bridge-building could have begun. Something, anything at all; but I never expected to be ridiculed by them.
(The media, yes, but not our gov't.) Anyway, I saw Judge Napolitano on GB the other day. He stated,"How about repealing the 16th amendment-repeal taxes and starve them to death. We'd need about 30 states to ratify this". Sounds good to me. Starve them if they won't listen-a great second choice. Then we could institute a flat tax-with no chance to increase it; this would make them stay within a budget. How do you start the process? On 4/16, I contacted pelosi and my rep to let them know how I felt. Pelosi stated that she couldn't respond to me, and my rep just thanked me for the e-mail. All this to say that contacting my rep about this will go nowhere; anyone out there with an idea? Thanks!!! And I'm serious about this-I'll do whatever I can.

Sounds good - I'm all for anything that will help. Venting's great, lets' off some steam, but we need to act, not just talk. I'm actually toying with the idea of running for local office. (Just in the thinking about it stage). I feel that if Sarah Palin could go from a concerned mom to where she is today, what's stopping any of us from getting involved? If people with convictions and morals infuse the system, things will turn around.

I would give this country back to its' people (please hear me out-it's not a lame answer). I would do all I could to shrink big gov't, and return authority to local levels. We've all seen how power corrupts; let us decide on a local level how to spend our taxes, what programs to vote on, etc. If all the middle men were cut out, we wouldn't have all the waste that we have now. As people living in the real world, we know what works and what doesn't. And if there were fewer politicians, who answer directly to us, living amoung us, we would be heard.

How is it that the term "terrorists" was considered politically incorrect last week, but now it's ok to label our vets as "potential terrorists"? What a HUGE slap in the face!! God bless EVERY ONE, past and present, in our military. THANK-YOU !!!

ok, I don't know if I'm stunned by what Pelosi said about the tea parties, or if I should have been cynical enough to not expect anything else. I really felt that with all of us standing together, they would get the hint, and maybe, just maybe, say, "ok, we need to listen", if for no other reason than to save their jobs. (Not that I wanted to hear more lies). I was so crushed to hear her words; I know how power can breed arrogance in people with no morals or values, but I never expected to hear that I was astro turf. I'm afraid of what it will take to get them to understand, or if that's even possible. God help us all: I want clear heads and reason to prevail. Can it?
