Execution is reserved for cold blooded premeditated murder, not gross neglect, child endangerment, stupidity, lying to the police, covering it up, etc., all of which constitute a crime, just not the crime she was on trial for. She may be a cold woman, but cold blooded premeditated murder wasn't proven beyond a reasonable doubt, hence, the correct verdict.
