Thanks, as you said, I was making more difficult! I'm good to go now!

I had to go the more involved route, since iTunes would not recognize my Sim card with simply pressing "deactivate". There were about 8 numbers and after repeated tries, the 5th number was recognized, but still no Congratulations window. Although dhlizard says this method is blocked.

Btw, I am honored to have the help and responses from two of the most esteemed members on the Dev-Team Blog!

Thanks for all you do!

I did NOT receive the Congrats window, but I'll try the prepaid sim.

Thanks

Hello,

I have my 2+ year old iPhone 4S on iOS 6.1.2 with Evasi0n jailbreak. It is now out of contract on AT&T and I just received the official "ATT MOBILE DEVICE UNLOCK" email from AT&T. Is it possible to officially unlock, without backup & restore, in order to preserve my iOS 6.1.2 jailbreak?

I just tried the SAM method, and Automatic didn't work, so I had to select the country, carrier and correct Sim ID for iTunes to detect my SIM card which did connect to iTunes after 4 attempts with different SIM ID numbers. My springboard reset for a moment and in Settings/Sam/More Information it changed from "Deactivated" back to "Activated" but I did not receive a Congratulations… unlocked window in iTunes, so I don't know if my unlock attempt was successful, especially since I do not have another carrier sim card.

I have not been able to find a definitive answer whether it is still possible to deactivate iPhone and unlock with the SAM (Bingner) method. I appreciate any knowledge you have of this situation.

Thanks for your help!

iphone 4s, ios 5.1.1

I updated to 5.1.1 last week and have synced & backed up with iTunes since then. Now, today I am trying to jailbreak with latest Redsn0w, but getting "Restore error 1: error copying keychain data ( MBErrorDomain/1)"

Do I need to reinstall ios 5.1.1 fresh and then run Redsn0w before backing up and syncing? Or is there another way to bypass this error.

Thanks for any help.

Thank you dh...!

No news (jailbreak) is still good news and gives us hope for the future!

By keeping us in the mix with your updates, it helps to soothe the rabid beasts in our unlock / JB community!

Yes, I'm aware of the future unlock status. It's better economically for me to switch from T-Mo to AT&T than spend $750 for a 32GB FUL and still be using Edge data speeds on T-Mo.

BTW, I just discovered AT&T and Verizon offer 15% discounts on their monthly bill for College Faculty and certain companies!

I agree with your advice, to make the jump now, and live without for now, while waiting for the JB.

Also, I will have to be cautious to prevent an OTA update too.

Thanks, I am honored by your reply!

I am waiting to upgrade to an iPhone 4S with AT&T, transitioning from my 3GS with T-Mobile USA.

With Musclenerd's jailbreak news today , should I make my move to the 4S now or wait for the jailbreak to be released first???

I've been with the Dev-Team, unlocked and jailbroke on an iPhone 2G, 3G and 3GS, since August 2008.

I will not use my iphone without Cydia and it's contributors!!!

Please advise.

Thanks for your advice!

I am planning on upgrading from my 3GS on T-Mobile to AT&T with the 4S.

But I just can't see spending the unsubsidized amount for a 4S to be on Edge, but yet I don't want to be without Cydia and it's Apps.

So I'm just trying to get a feel if there is good hope for the A5 jailbreak!

Thanks for your response.

Ok SA, I was also inferring if the A5 will be jailbreakable?
