Yes.

We have enough money to pay interest on the debt, Social Security and Medicare.

There is no need to borrow more money, no need to raise the debt ceiling.

You see the whole idea is prevent liberals from taking the country to a borrowing point where we don't have enough money to meet our obligations.

Inconvenient as they may be, some facts are in order. The fiscal 2013 debt service for the twelve months ending September 30 will be somewhere around $420 billion. (Per the Bureau of Fiscal Service the actual figure of 11 months through August was just under $396 billion). IRS revenues for the calendar 2012 tax year will probably be around $2.3 trillion. That equates to over a five and a half times debt service coverage. So having enough money is not even close to the issue. There has been some discussion of what some are naming “prioritization of payments”.

We don't default on any debt in the absence of raising the debt ceiling.

The lesson to be learned is that we don't have to borrow money to pay for money we already borrowed.

This budget battle and shutdown should continue well past the October 17th debt ceiling if for no other reason than to demonstrate that the federal government's tax revenue exceed the debt payment obligations.

The administration casually tosses about the 'default' word in a scare tactic that ultimately won't come to pass.

The sky didn't fall due to sequestration and the sky won't fall now.

A little lesson in economics is healthy for the country.

"This is not a stellar representation of leadership, but an example of why well informed citizens will vote in good faith that these tea partiers will be thrown overboard!"

Really Rick?

Exactly which Tea House seats do you believe become vulnerable because of shut down?
