I was reading your comment and was laughing to myself, because David has consistently been completely attached and sympathetic to all of the designers maybe a little too much, until this season. I laugh, because I think it is the network that is making David be more assertive in his role as host. He doesn't seem to be comfortable in that role at all and you can see where sometimes he really doesn't have a problem asking them what were they thinking, but most of the times you can see the inner struggle on his face. People don't really watch shows that don't have enough drama in them. UNFORTUNATELY! I personally loved Stanley's hands, just not for a kitchen cabinet, but maybe in a child's bathroom to hang up their robes and towels....definitely.

I have been watching Design Star for as long as I have had access, but for once for once I wish that they would use the designers in real life situations more often. I mean the entire season - there are people who would love to have a new kitchen. When they put the designers in homes, these are homes that the people together make 100k - try a home that their income is 20k. I know call Kitchen Crashers - but really how often would they do 4 homes in a neighborhood? How easy would it be to design a room from scratch The White Room challenge or the Kitchen one, try doing it in a neighborhood where the kitchens are less than 10 ft long and have little space for anything. Think of all of the good it would do to the homeowners who couldn't afford to have a designer come in and revamp their 70's style home that they can never be able to afford to do. I just see so much waste on this show. What happened to the actual kitchens that were designed in this weeks show? Can you just imagine having a homeowner receive all free new appliances? I don't even think they would have cared about the size of the jazz hands hanging on the cabinet doors!

Hi DB,

Isn't there a place where you can have reminders sent to you for the sweepstakes entries? I can't see to find them for the Blog Cabin and the Urban Oasis. I am sure it is probably as easy to find as the ketchup in the refrigerator, but for some reason....it's beyond my eyesight. hee hee!

Hope you have a wonderful 4th - sure love reading your blog entries!

Well, it sounds to me like you have a generous heart that can contribute much to Habitat For Humanity, the FoodBank, Community Gardens and Food Pantries in your area. I came from very poor upbringings, but we were fortunate to have enough land and great soil in which to grow apple trees, pear trees, cherry trees and a large garden. My mother never allowed us to be "bored" or to sit around and feel sorry for ourselves and would send us out to collect for Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Cerebral Palsy, the Heart Fund, and The Cancer Society. (yes, we actually had to learn how to pronounce these!) We were blessed with the opportunity of giving at very young ages not to mention my mother's great apple and cherry crisps....oh I can smell them now. Have a wonderful 4th of July!

$7 AWESOME! My kids used to call their great grandfather Grandpa Greenrock, Grandpa Greenrock taught me so much! He taught me how to put together a garden and how to make meals for less than $12 a week. $7 could buy back in the 70's (Did I just date myself? Oh yes I did!) it could buy you 4 boxes of Macaroni and cheese, a bag of potatoes, flour, salt, sugar, yeast, a dz eggs, 2 cans of tuna, a pound of bacon, a pound of ground beef and V-8. He considered those the staples in every kitchen. You would have meals for 5 days at least with that and the green beans, lettuce and tomatoes from the garden. He showed me how to bake bread, make gravy, make many types of casseroles with the mac & cheese & V-8. Forget about the taxes in Georgia for winning the home, look how much they will save with the Community Garden that they have! p.s. Thank you to you and yours for protecting and serving America!

I want to write this comment because of how many people think that they are more deserving to win the home than the actual winners, due to location, needs, etc.

My back broke back in Sept and I had to have surgery. This happened due to osteoporosis which was caused from taking prednisone for my RA. I still feel blessed because I wasn't bedridden like my great grandfather was and I was able to have surgery.

I lost my job in the interim due to the economy, but I still feel blessed because I couldn't work anyway and this way they will be able to save money.

I feel blessed too because I live in CA which has temporary disability benefits. I don't know how I would survive without them.

My injections cost 2k per month, which now that I have lost my insurance benefits unable to pay the premiums any longer, may very well be covered by the manufacturer in full -- I've applied still waiting to hear back. I feel blessed that many of my medications have these type of programs available.

My great grandfather was bedridden years younger than I am now. I am blessed that I was stricken with RA in this day and age rather than his day when meds were not as available.

I only have two fingers that are deforming because of the RA. That still gives me 8 - well counting my thumbs which of course I can't leave those handy things out!

I lost my dad when my back first broke - I couldn't help him to his bed very well and felt as if I was letting him down. He felt he was letting me down because of being ill. It wasn't "the way he had planned it." Nope, not everyone can die on a golf course dad - but he died in peace and for that I am blessed.

Many people have lost their jobs, their loved ones, their health, their wealth - these have been challenging times that's for sure, Blessings like the HGTV home come along as blessings - we all receive blessings every day it's not because we deserve them or don't deserve them, they are just blessings. We forget to look at the blessings we do receive because they aren't big enough or what we had pictured in our minds. Just the fact that we wake up, just the fact that we are able to get out of bed and don't find our name in the obits, just the fact that someone left the door open for us, just the fact we found a penny on the ground to wish on, just the fact that we have loved ones in our lives are TRUE BLESSINGS that we cannot ignore. They are the blessings the only blessings that truly count. I am blessed to count many of you bloggers as my friends TRULY TRULY BLESSED!

Congrats to the Jones family. Please ignore the negative comments that have been written here. The majority of the bloggers are thrilled for your fortunate blessings! Do take care and enjoy!

It would be interesting to know how many men versus women enter to win. Also, what states are the majority of the entrants from. Not that it would make a difference.
