GazetteOnline.com : Today's Joke: Doctor

I know this is the "joke" page, but I wanted to point out an error. The survey did not find the US behind in using medical technology, but information technology (IT). There's a big difference there. The reason we "lag" is because there's no big national database and not everyone is using the same program, which can make sharing information more difficult. They make a good point on access, which is basically the fact that we don't have "after hours" access to medical care without resorting to an emergency room visit.

Yes, you have been brainwashed. Either that or I have "found a person with no values". All you seem capable of is repeating lies and name calling. The sad part is, I think you are incapable of admitting that Obama has made some mistakes. In your mind he can do no wrong and everything he does must be defended at all cost -including civility and honesty. And what's the problem? Don't you want an implosion of the Republican party? You guys have been hailing its imminent destruction since Reagan was in office.

Keith, did you look at who they polled? You have to go beyond just the numbers if you want to actually understand what a poll means or if it really has any meaning at all.

Wow, when you latch onto something, you really latch onto it! What does that have to do with the current discussion? You and Keith both. You find one link that somehow makes the Republicans look "bad" and that's your answer to everything. You did note the poll was weighted extremely heavy for Democratic respondents, didn't you? Do you think maybe that's why the numbers came up the way they did? I'm expecting Keith to jump in any time now with his "Rush said we should segregate buses" link any time now.

So you're saying the purpose of the Nobel Prize was to influence politics in the US? Don't you see, that's exactly the problem. That's why it may even be illegal for Obama to accept the award. Here we have a foreign entity "paying off" the president of the United States to try to influence policy. Of course democrats don't have a problem with "the appearance of impropriety" as long as its another democrat involved.

So when people from another country cry out for help, the great USA is supposed to turn its back? Are you so comfortable with your own freedom you don't mind if others are denied theirs? Those people were denied their voice by an oppressive regime. Your answer is to let the oppressed "sort out their own issues"? You cry out over Bush "stealing" elections, but when an election is truly stolen, you want to turn your head and ignore it.

Your analysis is flawed at every step. Would you be happy living under the current Iranian regime? You really think allowing oppressive regimes to flourish and gain power is the way to maintain peace? Regimes that have vowed to wipe other countries off the map? People like you seem to be willing to turn over everyone else's freedom in order to buy yourself the temporary illusion of stability and freedom. That path leads to more days like 9/11. Then again, there are some people who think we somehow "deserved" that.

But while you and Obama are sitting around doing all that "thinking", somebody needs to be driving. That was his problem with Iran -all he did was sit around thinking. He never "got behind the wheel" and took control. He let Ahmadinejad do the driving. That's the way he's been "running" the country since he took office.

You may want to recheck who has their "head buried in the sand". You still haven't come up with any examples, just changed the subject. And to your new tact, there are also many democrats who are very happy he is blocking the investigation, including Nancy "I knew nothing about waterboarding" Pelosi. And since your eyes are full of sand, I'll help you out. There have already been investigations. Some instances of people going outside the bounds were found. Those individuals have been charged. The "new'" investigations are just a witch hunt that will have an adverse effect on national security if allowed to proceed. That's why Obama changed direction and is now against them. The democrats pushing for these new investigations are trying to create an atmosphere where any soldier or agent would be put in a position where following orders that justice department officials have verified as being legal could come back to haunt them. Even if they are legal.

GazetteOnline.com : Beware the cure that’s worse than the disease

Wow, way to make mountains out of mole hills. I'm not trying to dismiss the suffering of those who have been adversely affected, but keep in mind when talking about hundreds of "adverse events" you're talking about everything from swelling and tenderness around the injection site to death. One of those happens a lot more than the other. And I thought by now everyone was up on the facts that the single research article linking thimerosal to autism has been retracted due to falsified data. The real data showed no such link and dozens of studies trying to confirm the original false report found no link between the two. If you want to understand why the "autism rate" has skyrocketed, you might want to start with increased reporting and an expansion of the definition of what falls under "autism".

And you implied that it would cost him more that way. On average, it would cost him less that way. That's what you don't seem to grasp. On average, people get less out of insurance than they pay into it. That's not necessarily a bad thing though. You do remember all those "obscene profits" and whatnot you're always talking about when health insurance companies are involved, don't you?
I'm sorry to hear about your problems. But to be blunt, you have nothing but anecdotal evidence. I understand the need to find a culprit, something or someone to hold responsible. But I also understand the need for scientific rigor. Many areas are still feeling the after-effects of the thimerosal scare based on false data. I completely understand your stand to never get another flu shot. That's fine. And although your letter doesn't recommend that others follow your lead, I would be wary of making any decision based on a single bit of anecdotal evidence.
