Run blackra1n. I literally JUST ran into this problem because my brother accidentally 'restored' the phone in iTunes and it was giving the same message. Just run blackra1n, it'll take care of it.

While the sentence above is disputed upon, i introduce the fact that the sentence that made the above sentence 'disputable', is not true.

i have a theory that apple released 2.2.1 to counter yellowsn0w. no real reason to update, and then if you do you'll have to re-jailbreak.

its already been developed! you can't brick your ipt2g using rslite, and there are numerous GUIs that will do everything for you! www.fuckinggoogleit.com =]

unless its a factory-unlocked iPhone, then you're screwed. the 2.2.1 baseband as 2.30.03 isn't capable with any unlock program, and no plans are made (as far as the public knows) to even look at unlocking it. try it with another SIM card. if it works, you're good to go! But if not... =[

as far as I know, you CAN still jailbreak it using one of the GUIs. Since you bought a factory unlocked iPhone, and all other sims work fine even with a 2.30.03 basband, you're good as far as unlocking goes. Has Cydia gone away? you said that you upgraded it but have you tried to do anything jailbreak related with it? If you still have Cydia and Cycorder and BossPrefs and all that jazz, then you're good to go.

I really don't see why it matters, by the time we're able to manipulate the baseband of the current iPhone, the new one will be coming out in June, and then everyone will start whining for more. Hopefully though, if we are able to manipulate the baseband, that actual work does not come out until the new iPhone is out. If the software to manipulate the baseband comes out before the new iPhone does, I would think that apple would find a way to counter it and then the work would be useless when the new one comes out. Which would not be a good day. =[

you can't downgrade the baseband, or at least the all-powerful Dev-Team hasn't notified us of a way to do it. you should expect to not be able to unlock your phone....like...ever. You'll have to buy a new one and make sure it doesn't get upgraded past 2.1.1, or pay $$$$$$$$ for a factory unlocked iPhone.

i think that creating an unlock for an updated baseband (any version) is extremely low on the dev-team's priority list.

is the untethered jailbreak going to be more stable than rslite? Every once in a while when i juse jailbroken apps like emulators my iPod crashes. Is this a side-effect of jailbreaking, or is it a side effect of a more shallow exploit than the one needed for a permanent jailbreak?
