Run blackra1n. I literally JUST ran into this problem because my brother accidentally 'restored' the phone in iTunes and it was giving the same message. Just run blackra1n, it'll take care of it.

i have a theory that apple released 2.2.1 to counter yellowsn0w. no real reason to update, and then if you do you'll have to re-jailbreak.

its already been developed! you can't brick your ipt2g using rslite, and there are numerous GUIs that will do everything for you!
