Nina is a witch to be watched (out for). She mislead Courtland, apparently intentionally when they were talking about who she was and what kind of room she'd like. When she called herself a "Big City Girl", though she may hail from NY, the only truth to that statement is the word "BIG". Then, she throws him under the bus, had a fetish for parasols in the room she designed for him and ends the episode by telling us all that she's been validated???? Validated by more than one lie????? Maybe she should forget design and go into politics...............I truly thought that Candice, Genevieve and Vern had to have been bi-polar, all at once, to have named her the best of the week and put Tom in the bottom 6 for doing the same kind of thing with his fabric that Nina did with the parasols.

Comment: Yo -- I'm in total agreement with Bonnie -- I'd like to know what happened to Antonio, too. Some of the accessories he chooses are not to my taste, either, but his overall designs ROCK. I'd love to see more of his re-con and the crew -- they're all off-beat , but they're GOOD, and I've watched all of the re-runs of his, what, 5 episodes.......which just makes me want more. I know you all have posted makeovers by him on your "be on HGTV" app, but WHY didn't you already have stuff lined up for him like you did for David?? Love Bromstad, too, but diversification should be the name of your game. And how many people within your geographical limits for Antonio do you really expect to respond??? Seems to me that if Design Star can be taped in NYC, Bromstad can go to Miami, Designed to Sell is in the DC, LA, and Atlanta areas, along with Curb Appeal, the Block, Antonio could have the opportunity to do something any of those places with production crews already there??? And Genevieve Gorder was all over the place with Battle on the Block.Only wished I lived in ANY of those areas, I'd apply in a NY heartbeat!!!!

I'd love to be able to ask the architect this, but I can't find a way to do it...........the floor plans show no guest bathroom on that end of the house. This, to me is inappropriate, in that the guest(s) would have to walk the length of the kitchen and great rooms, just to go "potty" in the middle of the night, not only showering, etc., when they wanted to. It seems to me that there is room in the laundry for at least a commode and sink, or a whole bath could be added to the guest quarters in several differnt ways. One would be to cantilever the front of the cabin out and insulate to create the room for a guest bath, one would be to take part of the garage space along the front to create the room, and one would be to simply "steal" some space from the interior to create the guest bath. If the third option were used, a closet or built-in on the part of the living room that wasn't used for the bath would be of use to the aesthetics, as well as the utility in that area. Has this even been considered???

Seems to me that you (as well of the rest of Antonio's "enemies") simply have a problem with a straight guy that does design. And it's good design, with the skill-set to go with it. Is THAT the problem?? He says what he means and he means what he says????

Other than Bromstad, I can't think of ONE designer on the network that already KNOWS what's possible, and doesn't have to ask his team. He's just a red-blooded single, straight guy who doesn't put on airs. And that's OK by me.

If he seems "rough", maybe you ought to think back to Tony Soprano. That show was REALLY successful, and since its cancellation, most of the cast have gone on to other things........just like the Saturday Night Live casts of the past, Frazier, and now Seinfeld. What the hecky is wrong with sombody and something DIFFERENT???????

Can't say that I don't feel old, too, hun. But no matter what the age, we have to accept that there are other demograhics that Scripps could reach, if there's interest in a new "Design Star" winner. And the new look and attitude is Antonio's - not Lonni's or Dan's.

Lonni, (though her designs for he most part were good) is the typical "California Girl", and there are about 10 shows on the network that feature that type.

Dan's a lot of the same, when it comes to his looks and personality, so once again, no new "type", though HIS designs are for the most part great. AND he's nervous and stiff.

The "rough one" , though I don't agree with that typification, I think he's just different (and a gentleman in his own way - remember him helping Lonni, anybody?), is the only one that could pull from a new demographic. Why does anyone think that the ratings were so high??? It's Antonio, and he DOES work well with his teams, when they know what they're doing.

Sorry, guest -- YOU seem to be the blustery bully who doesn't have much design sense. Did you listen and WATCH the shows or are you just one of those folks who love to complain?

OK all you Antonio nay-sayers.......did any of you ever stop to think that Scripps is looking for something NEW?? David Bromsted has tatoos, is always taking his shirt off and shows them when he does, I love him and so do most of you, so what's the problem with Antonio's choice of personal style? In my humble opinion, there's always a place for everyone, and if the judges cancelled Lonni's show, after they warned her more than once about being a one-shot pony AND she didn't finish her room, I feel the decision was more than fair. As far as originality of design, how many designers out there would even think of fabricating the major pieces in that room out of coated STEEL and combine it with the cutting-edge color palette?? Not many, I think. As far as Antonio being "rough around the edges", that's OK, too. SOME of us do like watching someone a little different now and again. (Remember "the Sopranos"?) And that's where Scripps comes in. Every network on the planet is always searching for a new segment of the population to appeal to, and HGTV is no different.
