Big Hollywood : Know Your Town Hall Mob Agitators!

Um, excuse me, but yelling and chanting with signs has long been a technique of the left, not the right. Do you really think they're being uncivil or are you just mad that the right has stolen your side's techniques?

Hmmm...okay, fair enough. I see your point. Dang it, I believe all innocent life is sacred, but I do think you're right, and I just can't support negotiating with evil dictators. Congratulations, this round goes to you.

Hey, I'm not hating on Bill Clinton. In fact, since Obama's been in office, I'm really starting to miss Bill Clinton! Bill Clinton was a walk in the park compared to Obama.

I sent an email to that address. I told them that if they can't keep track of all the "disinformation", tough. If it's that important, try harder. We don't work for you, you work for us so unless you're going to pay people to do this, don't expect anything. Cog, do you really think the government has the right to ask citizens to work for them like this? And only so they can "know their enemy"? Since when did healthcare skeptics become the "enemy"?

Big Hollywood : No Oscar For You: Matt Damon's Iraq Critique Moved to March

I didn't mind Hurt Locker so much, and it's true that it wasn't really political, though I don't think it was devoid of politics either. I also couldn't help asking myself over and over again why that sergeant that Jeremy Renner played hadn't been fired yet! I mean, you can get fired from any job for not following safety requirements, surely you'd get discharged from the military for it. And I read an article about soldiers having seen the film who said, yeah, that guy wouldn't have lasted long, that kind of unprofessionalism is not tolerated. So, in a way, it's still portraying the military in a bad light; it makes it seem like they're perfectly okay with adrenaline junkies.

Bill Maher's only reason for being mean-spirited towards ordinary Americans is to, perhaps, get revenge on people who'd been nasty to him in high school (as Pat McIntyre pointed out that he was a dork in high school, and I can believe that) and to feel better about himself. Because, ultimately, why else do people do such things? They may kid themselves into thinking they have better reasons, but they really don't. "What do the intellectuals want out of their Rococo Marxist mental acrobatics? Do they really want change for all the para-proletariats whose ideological benefactors they proclaim themselves to be? Of course not. Actual change would involve irksome toil. All the intellectual wants, in his heart of hearts, is to hold onto what was given to him one shining moment a century ago. He asks for nothing more than to remain aloof, removed, as Revel once put it, from the mob, the philistines, the "middle class". -Tom Wolfe

You make a good point, but I'm not so sure that what you are in high school necessarily defines how you'll be as an adult and, if you don't end up being that, then you have "changed your destiny". High school is simply an awkward time for many people. A "phase", so to speak. However, I do think you're right to a certain extent. I was a dork in middle school, but I was able to get over it all. I inwardly forgave the people who'd been jerks to me, and I was able to shrug off the bad times I'd had in middle school and just remember the good times. And some people like Bill Maher, perhaps, just remain bitter and, therefore are never really able to grow up.
