Insider Trading: Illegal For You, But Not For Congress! HR 682

http://rightsoup.com/insider-trading-illegal-for-...

WTF?? From the article...

"One special group, however, gets to skirt these regulations. I was outraged to find that a dangerous legal loophole exists; one which allows members of Congress and high-powered executive-branch appointees to exploit “insider” knowledge of publicly traded companies, in order to make personal profits.

Under current law, Congress and staff who have access to the privileged “non-public information” gathered through official oversight proceedings, are NOT prohibited from using that information for personal benefit in securities and commodities trading. The SEC does not have the authority to hold employees of Congress, or the Executive Branch, liable for using insider information gained from official proceedings for insider trading. Equally as abhorrent: there are lobbyists and traders who haunt the halls of Congress seeking insider tips from staff, and are known as “political intelligence consultants.” They may also enrich themselves and their clients using this confidential information.

“Insider trading” is HIGHLY illegal for you, me and every other person who trades in the securities markets. Why is it legal for government officials? ...."

experiment 3 - trying to post... for like the 9th time!

Senate terms are 6 years, House terms are 2. Of the 4 reps in your state, Moran (R-04) looks like he's been there a bit, I would suggest not running against Jenkins (R-02) as she just got in there and might be good. She's also pretty well entrenched having held state level Republican seats. Moore (D-03) is probably your best choice because he's a Dem - but that also means most likely in a district with a major city and liberal constituency. and Tiahrt (R-04). Study each of them and their voting record if you want to run against any of them. You might decide that they are doing more good in Congress than you could and if that is the case, consider running against someone else or not running. It looks very remote that any of them are looking to retire soon so it will be an uphill battle running against an incumbent. That doesn't mean it's not worth running! If you can get yourself considered a serious candidate and get them into debates and other political fireworks, you can force them to modify their platform some (making things not on their platform, part of their platform - or at least make them take a stance on an issue they wouldn't touch otherwise). You probably won't make it past the primaries, but you might. Run under the Republican or Democratic platform. Doing otherwise almost guarantees a loose. Your states population is a bit over 2.5 Million. Half of them won't vote. So that's 1.25 Million votes in the mix for a state wide race. About 280,000 on average for a Congressional District - of which you will need to win half, or 140,000 votes. That's still a ton of slim jims and yard signs. Less if you are a rural district, more if urban. Fortunately, KS is not that expensive for advertising - billboards, radio and TV. You could probably even talk GB into giving you some free air time if you ran and it came out of this movement.

try 2...

The Ron Paul movement ran over 80 candidates in the last election. They ran under the Republican, Constitutional, Libertarian and Independent parties. Over half didn't make it past the primaries. I don't think we won anywhere - but we did learn a lot. One thing I want to point out up front is that you are a bit naive with your statement about only serving one term. We can get people in there,, but not that many per election cycle. Political campaigns are are very expensive. You will also not be able to do a lot in a first term. What legislation gets on the floor and voted on is determined by Majority leaders and committees. This is a very seniority based and controlled system. If you do get in, you can co-sponsor legislation, and get lots of "soap box" time addressing the nation via C-SPAN. It is much easier to win a House seat than a Senate seat. Unseating an incumbent senator is damn near impossible. The first thing you should think about is name recognition. How good is yours in your Congressional district (rep) or state(senator)? You would do well to increase that ASAP. Try to start writing regular OP-ED pieces in local papers, or try to get a radio talk show - something like that. Have a business - start running TV commercials with you in them. Get a hold of a book called "The Campaign Manager" and read it. Then consider attending candidate, etc school. These are usually fairly short and fairly inexpensive. There is a school that does this in VA. Go down to your local election office and get precinct level maps and inquire about voter registration databases. Study! Take a look at your opposition. Brownback (my first choice for removal in your state) and Roberts are not up for re-election till 2014.

Constitutional Conventions are dangerous. If you manage to get one, the people running it are under absolutely no obligation to hold it for the purpose it was called for. If you put one together to reform government, I guarantee, the only thing on the agenda would be shredding the Bill of Rights.

It's worse than you think. You see there is a regulation that classifies all seeds as "food". This new law also classifies manure as a contaminant, but not pesticide or chemical fertilizer. (Goodby organic gardens and heirloom seeds). It also Federalizes state AG departments and presumes all food is in interstate commerce - 2 huge constitutional violations. The bill is designed to drive small farmers out of business and monopolize the seed supply. it's also likely to kill 4-H clubs, FFA, county fairs, bake sales, etc. Yes, Monsanto is behind it. I have a post in the News section about it. You can learn more about it here: http://www.opednews.com/articles/1/A-solemn-walk-...

The bill is pushing MANDATORY "volunteer" activity. Someone so drafted would loose their rights to contact their elected representatives and say they are for against legislation, petition, protest, etc, etc, etc. because they would be holding a "national service position" (against their will).

Consumer alert: New irradiation symbol

http://www.ftcldf.org/aa/aa-23sep2008.htm

By Ted Beals, M.D., Pathologist, Lab Testing Expert and
Farm-to-Consumer Foundation Board Member

Even though there are an increasing number of stickers placed on our food and food packages, many shoppers rely on these notices to alert them about important facts. Although it has been approved for some time, shoppers will begin to see a new and important sticker. The serious problem with this sticker is that it is blatantly deceptive.

In their push to convince people that they are protecting us from foodborne illnesses the federal government is moving to allow irradiation of more food items. Meat and leafy vegetables are in that growing list. First, consumers should know that the FDA has said that the word “pasteurization” is an acceptable substitute for “irradiation. Second, the package label required when food is irradiated includes the international symbol for irradiation of foods, called the “radura”.

We have been unable to determine if the symbol has an approved color. We have seen it in black and even in pink, but almost always it appears with this nice leafy green color. And sometimes with the two leafs in solid color. We will not bore you with the official explanation of the origin of this symbol. But unlike most warning labels this has absolutely nothing that would indicate that the food was treated with something potentially dangerous. It looks remarkably pleasant. If you watch this sort of thing you might realize how similar the irradiated food symbol is to the logo for the US Environmental Protection Agency.

So consumers beware. This is an important label that you will want to recognize for what it is, this food has been IRRADIATED.

H.R. 875, the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009

A SolewaH.R. 875, the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009

A Solemn Walk Through HR-875

http://www.opednews.com/articles/1/A-solemn-walk-...

This is the best breakdown of the "food safety"(sic) bill I've seen. It ties it to other legislation and explains how it bans heirloom seeds, organic gardening and puts small farmers out of business, etc. As you read through the legislation consider what it will do to 4-H clubs, Future Farmers of America, county fairs, bake sales, farmers markets, etc. This might even be the end of girl scout cookies.

2 HUGE Constitutional violations are that it would federalize state agriculture departments and a cute one liner that says ALL food will be considered to be in interstate commerce (even if it never leaves the state!).

"C. 406. PRESUMPTION.

In any action to enforce the requirements of the food safety law, the connection with interstate commerce required for jurisdiction shall be presumed to exist"

H.R. 759, S.R. 425 and H.R. 814 are related "food safety" bills. There are others out there.

The real purpose of these bills is to put small farmers out of business, give Montsanto a monopoly on seeds and control the food supply.

The bill was introduced by Rep. Rosa DeLauro [D-CT] who's husband just happens to have Montsanto as a client! And look who Obama chose to head the USDA:
