Teri: people don't "feel like" they have the right to be gay. They simply ARE gay, and it's not a right to be bestowed or removed by people outside a gay person's body. And to remove the right to marry, as equals in the eyes of the law/California Constitution, is equivalent to segregated water fountains, etc.

What part of "comparing gays to pedophiles" do you not comprehend as being sickening, wrong, and unjust?

"Civil rights" is not just from the Sixties. It's NOW.

I have expressed my heartache at Mr. Obama (whom I adore, along with his family and the Bidens) selecting Rick Warren for the invocation at the inauguration. I have read about the good things that Warren does, but it's as simple as this. If you have one bullet in your gun that is aimed at denying full human rights to gay people, you ARE a bad guy. You are on the dark side if you do not choose to let love flourish wherever it may.

Look at the diversity of your audience, please: the people who turned out in droves.

Caving in to people who promote fear and divisiveness is NOT the change we seek.

Claire: I read this much earlier today, and just sifted through eleven pages of comments to find it again. It is so articulate, so wise, and so clear. Hence your name, I suppose.

I am so disappointed in Barack's choice with Rick Warren: it is sickening to me. I am firmly in support of gay marriage, and feel betrayed by this choice to make the world a smaller, more hateful place.

I can't believe Barack would endorse a hater. But there it is.
