May's support doesn't matter. The Bloc's formal support is the issue. The 'outside Quebec' Canadian public, like it or not, really hates the Bloc. As a party dedicated to kicking quebec out of confederation would almost certainly be despised in quebec. If the Bloc isn't detested outside of Quebec, the coalition would have happened, whether the aggregate popular vote in the last election of the coalition was 70% or 10%. Harper didn't kill the coalition, he's not capable. Fear of voter retribution killed the coalition. Just like Harper didn't agree to maintain the current political party public funding structure. Fear of voter retribution is maintaining it.

Anyone else notice that each side of the political spectrum is trying to say the other is the preferred ideology of the MSM?

Probably means the MSM is doing a good enough job.

I loved the Topp piece. Of course his bias slips into his account of the events last year, but Inkless points out the most obvious transgressions (popular word lately) effectively.

Wish there were more behind the scenes accounts of Canadian political events like this. then again, rarely is there as much high dramas in our political system as there was Nov/Dec 2008.

Political crack at its best!!!

PS: There's no need for Topp to publish his 'lessons learned' finale, as i expect it'll be 1/10th strategic discussion and 9/10ths "Harper is Darth Vader".
