I sure hope all Cedar Rapidians aren't as pessimistic as the people who post messages on this website. Cedar Rapids is at a major turning point in its history. After everything the city has been through, this should be a time of optimism and excitement. I wish Mr. Pomeranz well in his new position.

They made this point in the first sentence of the article: "Cedar Rapids’ Ellis Pool reopened one month ago after closing for two years because of flood damage. Much of the neighborhood surrounding Ellis Pool remains empty."

While it's unfortunate that UNI's baseball program was cut, it was a necessary thing to do. College athletics is a business. The baseball team had high expenses, generated next to no income, and had virtually no support from the UNI community. UNI's athletics department has required financial support from the university (i.e. tax dollars and tuition) for years. Baseball was likely the biggest drain on the system. When times are tough, tough decisions must be made. While it's too bad that those who chose to continue with their college baseball careers needed to transfer, in time, life will go on...

This is an ignorant comment. I have a hard time understanding why people can't set aside politics for one minute and be glad that Mr. Brandstad had this surgery to possibly prevent a heart attack.

I disagree with your comment. The purpose of these meetings is to gather public input. No plans have been finalized; they won't be for 12-18 months. Marion isn't displaying contempt towards their citizens, they're asking for their input.
