CrimeCritics : St. Ives (1976) – Movie Review

The trailer alone is a blast. "He's mean, he's lean, he's a go-between" ~ "As the stakes go up, the odds go down." Classic. Oh, and Bisset is absolutely gorgeous.

CrimeCritics : A Vengeful Longing (R.N. Morris) - Book Review

Unbelievable review. I can tell that you've been doing this for a very long time. The synopsis is detailed without rambling, and you found something to recommend about the book while also dinging it for its faults. Bravo. Brilliant.

CrimeCritics : Drag Me To Hell (2009) - Movie Review

I think I'm distracted in anything Justin Long does. Barring heavy makeup, he jars me from my suspension of disbelief. As soon as I see him in anything, I point and shout, "MAC-GUY!!!!"

CrimeCritics : Eden Log (2007) - Movie Review

Yeah, but they kept the tree in a glass ball (one supposes to protect it from man's pollution... ignoring the fact that trees live off of our un-holy toxin of CO2). Of course, the tree breaks through the glass at the end... right before the tear runs down the mud-smeared cheek of our wily protagonist. These fuckers want to keep recycling the same, tired motifs. I say put them in a landfill and let them rot.

I love a thriller in a decent setting. If the movie sucks, you still have a nice panorama to gaze at.

Don't even call me about this one. I don't want to know. Total black-out. Gimme the Star Wars prequels treatment.

CrimeCritics : The Descent 2 (2009) - Trailer

Uh? ALIENS, anyone? Distraught female who is the "expert" survivor from the first film returns to a horror franchise that is trying to become an action film? WTF? Morbid, I liked your version of the story MUCH better. The first DESCENT was one of my favorite horror films of all-time. In order to keep it that way, I'm not going to be watching this film. Nothing good can come of it. On the day of release, I'll pop some of my own corn and watch the original again with my wife.

CrimeCritics : Surrogates (2009) - Trailer

I like the premise, the trailer looks good, the wig could use a bit of work. To tell you the truth, I'm looking forward to this film more than I am to the next Transformers (or I was the Terminator flick). 12 Monkeys is one of my favorite sci-fi films of all-time and Bruce has a similar "me vs. the world" shtick in the preview. I'm going through the comics, now. Hopefully we'll have a review of them up in the next week or so.

Man, I had high hopes for this one as well. But who knows? I loved the third film, which many people loathed. Maybe I'll like this one too.
