it might be that usually when women cross dress they still look like women or that even men's clothing works for them where Women's clothing just looks wrong on a man.

I don't know really. This is just my best guess. After all, unless it's a Kilt, Men usually can't even wear skirts in public.

Exactly, I just don't see why people even have to think a visual gag is some sort of progressive message either when even Bugs Bunny pulled the same thing a few times.
