Big Government : New Hampshire Primary Open Thread

Be dismissive if it makes you feel better, Doctor Demento. I don't expect to persuade anyone to do what I do, but I have to do what's right for me in my heart and soul. I'd call that "the proper state of humanity," wouldn't you?

Big Government : New Hampshire Primary Open Thread

Just 299 days until Romney gets his butt kicked by Obama, folks. What's more telling than NH, is IA--not Santorum, who came in second, but rather, Romney, who wasn't supposed to do anything in Iowa at all, but won it. This tells me that "too evangelical, too rural" Iowa has become far more moderate than it was just four years ago when Huckabee won the state--and may be an indicator of how the country is going as a whole. Not only that, Romney is leading in SC and FL as well. Too bad. As a Bachmann supporter, my support isn't coalescing behind any of the remaining candidates. As Steve Deace said in a recent Townhall article, we "debated who could win instead of who should win." I'm voting for and writing in the one who should win: Bachmann. All of the remaining candidates are just more of the same old thing the Republicans always put up for us to vote for--and Obama will be sure to point that out at every opportunity. Go ahead, tell me I'm throwing away my vote, but the election is already lost and at least I'll be able to sleep at night--until the brownshirts come to my door.

Big Government : Winners, Losers and Misses: Breaking Down the CNBC Debate

Bachmann: A+, real, informed, articulate, measured and presidential. Gingrich: A, informed, articulate, but didn't really have a moment this debate. Santorum: B, well-spoken when given the opportunity, but definitely got the short shrift. Paul: D, got points for some good answers on domestic policy, but had to duck and cover when he started talking about opting out of Obamacare. Romney: C, carefully scripted focus group answers solidified his standing as the candidate who best tells you what he thinks you want to hear. Cain: C, too many answers appeared thin on substance. Huntsman: D, he showed up. Perry: F, for falling off the cliff. Too bad, that answer started out so strong. The audience: A, for booing the moderators' inappropriate behavior.

Big Government : Wall Street to Dems: You Can't Have it Both Ways

"President Barack Obama and other top Democrats are parroting the anti-corporate rhetoric running through the Occupy Wall Street protests..." Funny, fromthe very beginning, fromthe things the protestors were saying as reported by various news outlets, I thought it seemed like it was the protestors who were parroting Obama's anti-business/class warfare/redistributionist nonsense.

Breitbart.tv : Cain: Blacks ‘Brainwashed’ Into Supporting Dems

Just as blacks have been viewed as a solid voting block by Democrats, so have anti-tax and social conservatives been viewed as a reliable voting block for Republicans--giving us just enough to keep us voting for them, but when it comes down to the tough decisions, they cave every time. Maybe Herman Cain is the one who can not only talk tough, but make the tough decisions as well. Like Lincoln, this could make him a great president.

Only he could say this. Anyone else and they'd be labeled racist. He's going to be skewered by the uberliberals for saying it, but bravo that he's willing to tell the tough truth. I'm liking this guy more and more.

Solyndra is a great, big fat gift to Obama. Couldn't have come along at a better time. I have no doubt after yesterday's "Biden...Biden...Biden...Biden's emails...Biden...Biden," that the Veep will be the fall guy. And let me go out on a limb here, that after they dump him, they'll offer Hillary the moon to come on board as VP to prevent a challenge from her...which will make his ticket virtually unbeatable and Clinton the assured Democrat nominee for 2016.

Breitbart.tv : West: Obama Shredding Constitution

I love Rep. West's no-nonsense approach to everything. He has a great future ahead of him in politics, but I'm still having difficulty reconciling the fact that he voted for "Satan's Sandwich". He's right that you can't get everything, but it was a worthless piece of legislation that revealed itself in that regard with the downgrade.

Krauthammer is 100% correct. The Republicans should have let Obama win this one and moved the date of the debate. Now that Obama has agreed to move the date of his address, he looks like the bullied victim of obstructionists, instead of the other way around. And if you don't think the MSM isn't going to spin it that way, just wait.

Big Government : Immigration Reform Yielding Results in Alabama

Yes, you're right. And the current Administration, in addition to suing states trying to enforce immigration laws, will do everything possible to do an end-run around immigration laws, going so far as to send out memos basically telling immigration officers to overlook what's going on and let things slide. As someone (I don't remember who) tweeted on Twitter recently: "They aren't illegal aliens, they're just unregistered Democrats!" As long as this Administration is in control, this will continue because they view this as a guaranteed voting block in their corner. But the people who sacrificed to come to this country legally are the ones who, I think, will end up suffering the most as they see illegals cheating, breaking the law and cutting in line in front of them and getting all the goodies without suffering any of the consequences of their actions.

Passing the bill that-they-had-to-pass-to-see-what's-in-it at midnight on a Saturday night/Sunday morning when our elected officials were isolated from their constituency's fury only served to put fuel on the fire of the "disregard for consent of the governed", IMHO.
