Longmont Times-Call : Second grade Loveland student reportedly suspended for imaginary weapon - Longmont Times-Call

Arbitrary rules that result in a seven year old's being "disspended" remind me of people who have lost all connection to play, to common sense. Thank you, Alex, for protecting the world with your imaginary grenade. I'm sorry you're dealing with adults who are so afraid of their shadow that they are going to quash your imagination. Mom, get him out of this school. With leadership like this, it's doomed to create robots and children fearful of being playful, wondering if some odd rule will get them "disspended," where children who are encouraged to tattle on their classmates become the new role model.

Daily Camera.com: : \'Who would shoot my donkey?\': Lyons couple, police stumped by slaying - Boulder Daily Camera

It's clear you understood my "grammer." No need to get violent. Only proves my point - your comments are not classy. I'm entirely sympathetic to the injustice done to the elk and the donkey, but the ugliness you bring to the discussion only lowers all of us. My apologies to the Lyons' couple that they must endure sick jokes about the BPD while they have a loss of a gentle innocent creature. I restate my hope that the person who did this has a loud mouth and talks and someone reports the incident.

Crazyluna2 - not classy to continue to degrade all police officers - and you 53 are approving a poor attempt at humor while disparaging BPD unfairly. I'm hoping the person who cruelly slaughtered this little donkey talks and someone with a conscience reports.

Daily Camera.com: : Jay Cooper: Boulder Police -- Breathe the moral air of Boulder - Boulder Daily Camera

Absolutely agree, Jay Cooper. I doubt Councilwoman Becker noticed her arrogance and condescension toward BPD's values. Reading comments in the Daily Camera is a depressing endeavor - so much hatred and illogical conclusions when posts show contempt. Lumping all officers into the actions of a few is the height of illogical and unseemly conclusions. I hope she has an opportunity to clarify she does not stand with those values.

Daily Camera.com: : Boulder councilwoman K.C. Becker wants more police officers to live in city limits - Boulder Daily C

Councilwoman Becker, if you mean by "sharing Boulder values" to include the absolute cruel denigration of the entire police force for the actions of two officers, then I hope you divorce yourself from those values and denounce those who do, reminding your Boulderites of the value of decency toward those who genuinely seek to serve and protect while getting bashed at every opportunity. I question making officers live in a town that seems to value calling its police force fascist pigs. (Intelligent adorable animals, if you think about it) And heavens, how many of those Mapleton residents signed that elk's death warrant by feeding it? What of the reports of aggressive behavior? That's a wild animal - do not feed it. It will come back and some day a tragedy will occur - oh right! It did. I never saw that tragedy coming. I would have worried about a child being gored. I love Boulder's quirky nature, but I'm disgusted with your values of mean-spiritedness toward the Boulder Police Department. I'm proud Boulder cares about animals. I'm angry that Officer Carter's flawed character meant a majestic elk was killed and bagged and taken off in the middle of the night. Do you have any idea what ugly people would do if they knew where any police officer lived? I suggest you become familiar with the BPD's values - encourage citizens to take the Citizens Police Academy. Have you taken it? I did and I came away proud, honored, and astonished at the fine people I met who wear the badge.

Daily Camera.com: : Boulder police to conduct training on Flagstaff - Boulder Daily Camera

Pleased you're open to listening to a response. From the DC and press releases you'll find the police train often vs your "any kind of training" remark. Just in the past two months there has been a bomb training, active shooter training, annual inservice training, driver training, and new police officer training. A new officer isn't automatically familiar with a department's procedures, protocol, culture and even street locations. Training with a mentor is invaluable at any company. Take the Citizens Police Academy offered in the fall. Your city police is trying to do the right thing, i.e., filter out "malefactors" and hire police officers who serve all the while being lambasted at every turn.

Actor Ellis Von Rivenberg, right, is handcuffed and searched by officer Stephanie Ragland as her partner, Alishia Kunz, looks on during a Boulder Police Department training exercise on Flagstaff Mountain on Wednesday. ( CLIFF GRASSMICK ) Watch that comprehension. It bites. No one reported actor was paid. Using the term actor is true to a point, but role-player would have been more precise. Volunteer would have even better since that is fact. Volunteers are used throughout the police department...victim advocates, Law Enforcement Torch Run volunteers, Creekfest volunteers, role-players during various training exercises, etc.

BoulderBill - "no one would have a problem with a dog in a 90 degree car if it was 102 degrees outside." That's a zero brainer comment, BoulderBill, and there's nothing else to say to you - however, being a fair person, I am going to go to your profile page to see if you ever have said anything thoughtful (or if you are an engineer who argues for the sake of minute precision.
I thought I was bad at science. You sound so confident and yet you're wrong in understanding how a dog breathes. Don't you ever google? If you understand a dog's body temperature is ALREADY around 102, and putting it in a car where the temperature goes up to 90 degrees, it does not mean it's an air conditioning situation. Go google, yourself. Here's a link to start: http://www.mydogiscool.com/e_media_press_5_18_10....

Boulder Bill, I know it's a common misconception - dogs breathe through their noses and mouths. It's the insufficient ventilation. They cool off by panting and through the pads in their feet and since the normal body temperature is about 102 a dog can only withstand a high body temperature for a short time before damage occurs - http://www.mydogiscool.com/e_media_press_5_18_10.... "Snuggle, a Maltese/Lhasa Apso who was locked in a car while her owner visited a Tampa, Florida amusement park. When Snuggle was rescued, the temperature inside the car was more than 90 degrees and her core temperature was nearly 106 degrees."

Too long for the puppy. That's the reason for the ticket - to get someone's attention on caring for a puppy. I did feel sorry for the guy and you can't tell who he is.
