FlashMobs used to be "fun" groups - not even performance art, just fun stuff, sometimes stupid, sometimes making a statement, but usually pretty benign. I've been in them, I've seen them played out. Almost always had a laugh. What Value is describing is not a "regular mob". They're using FlashMob tactics, organizing on Twitter and Facebook to show up at a location at a specific time for "organized" vandalism or violence. And it's becoming more and more prominent, and dangerous - how does a policeman, or even several (or ANYONE for that matter) stop 50 kids from ransacking a store without hurting someone (something which the media would never, EVER let go of)? It's going to come to violence before it ends... it has to.
