There is another side of this story. My husband, also a Vietman vet, had Mulitple Myeloma and lived in the Veterans Home in Marshalltown. He had an emergency and none of the hospitals could take him so he had to go to the VA hospital. They said his kidneys were failing and filled him full of morphine until he died. They couldn't find any sign of kidney problems when they did the autopsy. So needless to say I am not as happy and ready to say how great the VA hospital is yet. I am very glad you had a very good outcome but just to let you know that is not always the case.
