What's ridiculous is that it sounds as if you took any of that seriously.

Because it's MORE intellectually satisfying to see the literal events taking place instead of a metaphor for morality and choices disguised as a mindless terror romp... right. Good luck with that one.

The title of the film, then, becomes the admission of guilt. Deep inside she feels she is to blame for everything and deserves to be in hell. Metaphors are dope.

What..? It's easier to explain away that she's cursed, rather than that she's subjecting herself to these horrible images because she has feelings of resentment toward her own actions and the way she deals with life. We're dealing with an intense psychological drama/horror if this is the case, something that is more difficult to grasp than simply explaining it away as "nah she's just cursed." You even mention character studies - "well she's just crazy" is the same as "well she's just cursed," this theory actually bothers to point out what's frustrated in her life, why, and how it's manifesting yourself. If you're really against things being "easily explained away" you would support this theory, think it through.

What about every scene with crazy shit happening? The theory claims what you see isn't what's happening, but what she believed to be happening. She didn't accidentally fall in, she was committing suicide. She went to hell on the train track, but that's where she believes she's going to end up. The entire theory consists of the idea that what you are seeing is not necessarily what is happening. To understand it at all means accepting the possibility that most of what you are seeing is metaphorical hallucination.

"Theory should be fun, not aggressive." Then why not 'Fun Film Theory.' Crazy seems aggressive enough in the interest of denying plausibility. But ok. :p

Any explanation as to why the title was changed from 'Is Drag Me To Hell Really About A Girl With An Eating Disorder?' as clearly shows up in the URL to 'Crazy Film Theory: Drag Me To Hell Is Really About A Girl With An Eating Disorder ' ? I can understand if it's meant to discern that this is a theory and not /film's official stance on the matter but it's not so crazy. Most of it is plausible... I hope that most will read more into it and check out the thread before considering the theory entirely debunked. At the very least it should encourage speculation and discussion. Just wondering. If you end up changing it any further, 'stevo 22' rather than 'Steve M' would be preferred. Kudos.

Many times there is food near her. Sometimes there isn't - she is hungry. Her hair gets pulled out, she gets thrown up on, nose bleed, the old lady's arm down her throat - all supports the anorexia stuff, didn't have to really "try" to find the link there.

Agreed.. it's called DRAG ME TO HELL, not She Was Dragged To Hell. This film is her admission of guilt, the guilt she feels for many things and manifests as hallucinations. Pretty cool theory.

Hahaha. I was trying to think of something similar and that was probably one of the funnier examples anyone could come up with. The best (and I guess worst) part is that some people are actually like that. Kyle's explanation was the best, Cartman's fragile ego is just acting in self defense. Brilliant.

It connects without a ton of exposition because it's so blatant. I'm not saying it "cheats" or anything, but where other movies might try to give you an idea of what he expects so that when reality falls short the audience really feels it, this just puts two panels on the screen and skips the hard work. Also with Sauce.

Some people disagree with certain aspects of "movie economics" and rather than boycott there are other ways to deal with it, more or less, legality aside - perhaps this will be understood and eventually most forms of media will give in and distribute more sensibly, like Hulu. Then there's also the argument of art being something for everyone to share. But calling people fucking retarded because you disagree with them doesn't say much about yourself, either.
