This is a quick answer to stave off relegation. I understand your point about listing a player as an asset, which is great when they are not in the twilight of their career. However, Benni McCarthy is 32 years old and having him sign a 3 year contract doesn’t make financial sense given the circumstances. West Ham needs to consolidate their position in the premier league, when this has been achieved, I am sure the signing of players on short term contracts and paying 100,000 per week will not happen.
