This is pretty hilarious coming from a guy who relied on "magic realism" in most of his novels. His most famous novel, The Satanic Verses, begins with two men who survive a plane explosion and are turned into demigods. And he thought a boy from the slums winning a trivia contest was "ridiculous"?!
