The polls have been weird tonight. The Public Policy Poll is saying that more independents say Obama won the debate, but more are shifting their votes to Romney. The way it appears to me is that voters think Obama won the debate on aggressiveness and snark, but didn't win them over as voters. He looked petty next to Romney and that had the bigger impact. Romney played the long game with this one and I think it worked.

It's tough but not impossible. My in-laws finally convinced their 80-something parents to vote republican after years and years of trying to get through to them. I'm not even sure how they did it. Persistence I guess.

I find it so infuriating that the democrats assume women are just as much a forgone conclusion as blacks, gays and Latinos. I know more women vote democrat (a fact that makes me weep for my gender) but by no means do we all. They treat us like abused wives who'll keep coming back no matter how they treat us. They basically insult our intelligence on a daily basis with their "war on women" nonsense. It kills me that so many fall for it.

I'm sure that doesn't help. But the anger I saw came before the victims came home. I think Obama's indifference is what did it. Romney stood in front of the press and made a statement *before* Obama and it was a glaring deficiency on Obama's part. The media can try to spin it all they want and claim Romney jumped the gun. But to the public it appears he's more compassionate, decisive and presidential than the President.
