I WILL fight for your right to say what you wrote here. Next time, understand that your right to say something as insensitive as that comes at a very heavy price. Your freedom comes as the expense of hundreds of thousands who have spilled blood and given thier lives. Is what I write self-righteous? No. Not when I speak THE truth. Please post next time with a little more respect and understanding of the history and reasons why you can say what you do.

I am a more world-wise, experienced, and balanced person than I was when I first enlisted 15 years ago. All I wanted to do was to shoot a "gun" and jump out of airplanes. Now, I don't WANT to do any of that. Saying that, If my country, my Commander in Chief (who I voted for), my battlefield commanders, and my fellow soldiers NEED me where they ask me to be, by God, I will be there and I will serve with honor, dignity, and character. Please change your tone in trying to classify me as a homicidal sociopath. I am neither.

Homicidal sociopath? I'm glad that my age has mellowed me out a little bit. Why don't you just apply that title to me? I'm shipping out to Ft. Stewart, GA on the 13th to be brought up to speed at the Infantry school. Knowing that I'm going to be trained as an infantryman, do I qualify as a sociopath? ...I signed up to the National Guard with the understanding on my contract that in 6 months I'd be trained as a 25U signal support system specialist. My country asked me to go to Iraq for your blessed rights and freedoms. One of the caveats to my contract was that I sign up under my original MOS (11B infantry) for 6 months.

I am rolling my eyes at this one. Terrorist? Probably not. Less than intelligent? Uhh...yeah. He is a 19 year old though. Guys don't start growing up until at least 25...and even then it's debateable as to whether we ever sincerely grow up. So, as I read this article..this guy peeing in the bushes...good lord. Really? What a baloonhead.

KATU - Portland, OR : Meltdown 101: What took GM and Chrysler so long? | KATU.com - Portland, Oregon | Business

Hmmm...I got rid of my dodge a little over two years ago for a Toyota. I gave up gobs of power and "street style" for gas mileage and reliability. I went from 22 mpg to averaging over 42 mpg. The Dodge I had was in the shop no less than twelve times for non scheduled maintenance. The Toyota has NEVER had a problem. I've now had it for as long as my past Dodge. The Dodge dealerships treated me like crap, feeding me lines of BS, taking my car out for Ferris Bueller "joyrides", and being unable to fix simple problems. The Toyota dealership has always treated me with respect, they even hand me parts that are scheduled to be used on the car but don't need it, showing me each time that they do. My little Toyota is worth more and the value will depreciate less quickly than the Dodge ever could dream about...They were both the same price when I purchased them new. The quality of engineering is apparent when looking at the Toyota. It is a stark difference between that and the Dodge. ...now, why did Dodge and GM fail? They don't have quality products, they don't have quality leadership, and they don't have a customer first attitude. This is my experience. I speak only for myself.

This is VERY frightening. Personally, I am more wary of NK than I ever was of Al Queda. I would make NO illusions that any defence of the peninsula will be clean. It wasn't in the Korean War, there's NO reason it should be now. I'm more concerned about China and Russia and what they'll do (or not) if NK decides to lash out at SK or Japan. Yes, there is no doubt that America COULD turn NK into a glass parking lot. It would be highly doubtful in my mind that even if NK used ordinance up to and including nukes that we would respond in kind. If that were to happen I sincerely see America, China, and Russia coming together at least reluctantly...To squeeze NK like a nasty pimple with conventional forces. The only caviat to that last thought would be if NK actually struck Hawaii or Alaska... ...And to think I just re-enlisted in the Army. Thank God it's not a combat MOS. This is indeed a scary time for the region. As mentioned before, this is a REAL test for the President.

As a serving member of the Armed Forces, I would like to give a heartfelt and very sincere thank you to all of the families of the service members. Without a solid base we are less than whole. Thank you to all the mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters...to the wives and husbands. Thank you to all who support the troops REGARDLESS of what side of the political spectrum you subscribe to. We all know freedom isn't free. and for the flip side of that I'll quote this, "Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both." Benjamin Franklin God Bless America

I can't say I agree with the police beating the guy when he was unconcious... Perhaps they should have waited until he was awake and then kicked the crap out of him when he could remember it. I love this innocent until proven guilty, use fuzzy padded handcuffs defence that some are posting up in here. ALL of us know he is guilty. I hope you peeps have the same "coddle the scumbag" attitude when said scumbag trys to kill you or someone you are close to. Thank the lord I'm not a puncher, that leaves marks...I'd rather just twist your limbs or choke the crap out you. Street justice was served in this case. It was over the top though. Unless you're in that situation, there's NO way you can predict how you'd act. I can say this from experience. How could this situation have been prevented? Simple, don't break the law, then flee from the police, and try to kill one of the officers. See? Without the crime there's no reason to beat the snot out of the criminal. Easy!

Not that I disagree with August but, isn't "thou shalt not kill" a bit of incorrect translation? Isn't it Thou shalt not murder?
...Just don't try to proselytize me into whatever belief you have. Whether mine is similar to yours or not, it makes no difference. God is God regardless of how zealous the followers are and what names they have for God. God will still be whether or not I throw money at the church. Religious freedom without breaking the laws of the land is what all should have.

It was an interesting movie. I'm no Trekkie, but having been raised with my mother watching it, this was at least IMHO a cool movie. The effects weren't over the top, the acting was at least on par, and the script was involving enough to keep me entertained for a matine price. At least I know what to get mom for christmas!

Oh man...I'm wondering if it was a drive stun or an actual barb deployment... regardless, having been through the taser training before, it doesn't feel good. At least they were a bit more loose after. It's almost sick to think this way but at least it was a non-lethal taser. No lives lost.

The families are the ones who suffer. Condolances. Why though would you not just go inside, lock the doors, and call the police? Logic dictates this course of action versus grabbing a sword of all things. Karma will not touch me for asking that question, sorry to inform you. Ego and pride mixed with alcohol, however, do bring karma around very quickly. Condolances to the families...and those children.

I think I'm inclined to agree with you on this one. No one touches my kid except me. The kid was spouting off what his parents were telling him to. If he was truely the scared type, he never would have said anything to start with. These kids seem to need a "sport" that teaches them to be a bit more humble (I have a GREAT idea for that too). They have to know that there is ALWAYS someone out there that is better than they are. Taunting and name-calling isn't needed. I do recognize that some use it as an intimidation factor. If you need to "intimidate" someone, you've already lost.

Oooh. Easy thing to say. Having done some CONSIM training through WCSD, no matter who you are, you will have a MASSIVE adrenaline dump when someone is coming at you trying to kill you. Sitting here armchair quarterbacking why police officers miss in a shootout is pure speculation at best. Why do we think that the patrol guys are always on edge? Simple, you can get killed walking up to a simple traffic stop or sitting on the side of the road finishing up a report. We all know there are nutbags out there that think the police are knuckle dragging gorillas who beat everyone up.

Well obviously we all should rush out on our lawns Dungeons and Dragons style when some friend comes out all drunk with a handgun. I'll bring my sword of defending against morons +7...OIY! You people tell us that this guy was smart. Yeah...okay. I know we all have moments of stupidity but when mine happen I don't rush out with a SWORD to confront a "friend" in my front yard! Are you kidding me?!? I don't pretend to lump everyone in St. Helens together. Just these two. I still contend that the PROPER thing to have done would be to think of my family, lock the doors, call 911...get my "home defence" shotgun out and loaded and wait for the drunk simp to come through my door flashing a gun. Regarding morons like this, I am insensitive. Condolanced to all the families involved. Perhaps they'll make better decisions than these two did.
