now i get you.. previously, i had accidentally downloaded the 3G FW. i'll download the 2G FW and will let you guys know. thanks for all the support everyone, specially "WAMBO"

i downloaded the pwanage tool but it is in .dmg format so i am unable to figure out how to use it...

i am using XP, i have updated my firmware to 'iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore'. first i had 3.0.1 but i downloaded the 3.0 file from your community after recommendation from someone in this forum. i have an iPhone 2G. it is currently on the firn ware 'iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore'. i have used the same file in redsno0w. it starts the jailbreak but gets stuck even after i unplug my USB. i have repeated the whole procedure various times and have unplugged and then replugged too but it does not proceed...

i did unplug my USB for 3 seconds. restored the whole firmware again, and the results were the same. it did not work :S

redsn0w isn't continuing even after i unplugged the USB cable and replugged it.. it still says 'waiting to reboot'. any idea what is happening??

oh my! that is a 230 MB file!
thanks anyways.. i hope it works after the download is complete.. it will take around 2 hours so hopefully catch up with you guys in the morning,,

i tried updating. the 229 MB file got downloaded on my PC. iTunes now says that i need a valid simcard whereas redsn0w doesn't really seem to work. when i downloaded the file, i had selected restore as normal updating wasn't working. i have the update file on my PC but i am not sure it is installed on my iPhone or not.

can anyone please help me out??
i am badly stuck! i tried updating my firmware from 1.1.4 to 3.0 and downloaded that 229Mb file..
When iTunes tried installing it, my phone went blank and that 'connect to iTunes' screen appeared.
once it said that my sim card couldn't be used as it was not of AT&T and a local Pakistani network.
i searched on google and found your blog. i downloaded the redsn0w software and selected my .ipsw file in iPhone software updates. i tried selecting both 'iPhone1,1_3.0.1_7A400_Restore' and 'iPhone1,1_1.1.4_4A102_Restore' but none of them really worked and redsn0w gave the message " unable to recognize specified ipsw for both the files. my iTunes wont connect most of the times and says that connection couldn't be established. my phone isn't working and i dont have a spare one. can anyone please take me out of this serious trouble?? :S
