This is a lot like the fictional TV show my newspaper colleagues and I liked to imagine we were starring in, called COPYDESK! In which editors dramatically call for missing sports copy and heatedly debate semi-colon usage and valiantly try to get a headline to fit on deadline.

I want to be played by Parker Posey.

If you liked Inspector Wexford, you might try more of Ruth Rendell. I prefer her non-Wexford stand-alone novels (which aren't detective fiction, but generally involve crime) and her short stories.

My mini-superpower is finding pennies. I spot them all the time. On the sidewalk or the street, half-buried in mud, multiple feet away from me, whatever. I guess I am incrementally accumulating lots of good luck.

I got my lower back tattoo in my mid-20s and never mentioned it to my parents because ... none of their business. It revealed itself when I was in the hospital for a major abdominal surgery. I was sedated at the time, but apparently my mom assumed it was a mark the hospital had made (like an X marks the spot) and my then-boyfriend had to tell her it was a tattoo. That's probably the most useful thing that boyfriend ever did for me.
