Sounds like a fantastic program. They might want to consider investing in multiple coats. Walking around Iowa's campus in the middle of winter is a bone-chilling experience.

A defendant almost always pleads not guilty initially. He's notifying the court that he's going to plead guilty.

The reason they won't rotate is because of Michigan-Ohio State, which they would never, ever rotate. And they're not going to do something different with 10 of the schools and then have 2 of the schools be different, so therefore, at least one "protected" game. Looks like its Purdue for us.

"He’ll try to motivate his players with last year’s UNI game. Both teams are play in the FCS vs. FBS Iowa." I imagine (hope?) that Coach Ferentz will do the same with Iowa.

GazetteOnline.com : Police Chief: No "Speed Zone" in Cedar Rapids for now

Giving Graham and the CRPD the benefit of the doubt and go with the fact that the Police Department is looking to maximize safety (which I realize many, many people do not want to do), I would hope that both the City Council and the CRPD would keep careful track of statistics and anywhere where the cameras fail to reduce accidents, or even increase them, the cameras should immediately be taken down. I suspect they won't do that, but if they were being honest and forthright about what their objectives are, that should be done. And Job79, virtually all the studies about increased accidents are rear-ended accidents where a driver slams on the brakes to not run a controlled intersection. Theoretically at least, the interstate cameras would not have the same tie, and from what I've seen on 380, I would actually consider it to be safer since the cameras went into effect.

GazetteOnline.com : UI officials clarify after-game tailgating rule

Ha, and great name for you. It is pretty clear that as long as you're not a drunken idiot, the police aren't going to bother people too much. I don't have any issue with this, and as people have pointed out, if Iowa is going to come out against under 21 bars b\\c of wanting to curb drinking, its hypocritical to encourage it at football games (and I say that as a proud season ticket holder).

GazetteOnline.com : Muldoon pleads guilty to lesser charges after issue with key witness

You don't know the facts of the case. Would you rather have the State take a weak case to the end of trial and lose and have him walk? The attorneys in this case know what they're doing on both sides. As Trish pointed out in the blog, abuse cases don't typically produce witnesses. They're incredibly tough to win, to get beyond reasonable doubt.

Good news that Ferentz sounds hopeful that Wegher will rejoin the team. And after last year's near disasters against the supposed patsies on their schedule, hopefully they can bury Eastern Illinois quickly. If nothing else, the offense should be much more in sync since they've been playing together, at least as far as the skill guys go, for an entire season.
