Short answer: YES Off the top of my head, all non-pony villains have been unicorns: Sunset, Trixie, Sombra, Starlight........ any other type of pony (like Lightening Dust) are more of smaller-scale antagonists...

Maybe it has something to do with the characters colorings, on some level anyway. Color is almost the first thing the brain notices. AJ and Flutter's are painted with traditionally ignored colors. Compare Twilight's purple or RD's cyan to a yellow or orange pony to someone unfamiliar with the characters, and I'll bet they'll stare more at Twi or RD. AJ is at a particular disadvantage to this primitive-style thinking due to a lack of 1) an interesting horn protruding from her head, or 2) the ever-so enchanting pair of wings. So in short, just think of the majority of users to your site as moths attracted to a big 'ol bright, blue bug zapper, instead of being attracted to some dark article of clothing out of the way.
