Nowhere does it say the parnets had hired an attorney to sue the transit company. I'm sure they will wait to see what the investigation turns up and then decide the appropriate course to take. It is only natural to think about how this will forever affect their lives. If compensation is due, they will need a good lawyer to make sure the insurance company doesn't shaft them, which is the goal of for-profit insurance companies, in case you hadn't noticed. Trusting in the expected 'goodwill' of any institution to do the right thing today is misplaced trust.
