There will be many accidents, but eventually one day everything will click and you will have a child who is potty trained! The key for me with potty my daughters was to make the switch from diapers/pullups to underwear. Once they were wearing underwear they could really feel when they had an accident. They were potty trained soon after. It's messy and annoying, but works.
