/Film : Rumor: Stephen Sommers Fired From G.I. Joe?

the funny thing is - seeing the trailer on the big screen recently - Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow were the only images that created any excitement, but they don't actually do anything cool in the trailer (simply hold their swords against one another's)... total misuse of the g.i. joe property (could have been a contender)

/Film : Essay: Is Kevin, the Tropical Bird in Pixar's UP, a Nod to the LGBT Movement?

WALL E totally tied a comatose Eve up in christmas lights and dragged her around... creepy I haven't seen UP yet, but am very very intrigued by David Chen pointing out that the character is asian (not publicized like princess and frog) - and now this potential subliminal commentary on identity... this article is prompting me to see the film

/Film : Is Harvey Weinstein Asking Tarantino To Cut 40 Minutes From Inglourious Basterds?

2 things -- 1) I am so annoyed that films are perceived as needing to be 90 in order to be consumable - if there is a scene that doesn't fit then it doesn't fit - but to cut scenes for concern of running time rather than pacing, storytelling, etc. is just a form of stripping something of its artistic value to create a marketable commodity. 2) any fan of tarantino will see this movie regardless of running time - he is not known for scenes that take their time with the dialogue...

I do agree that terminator salvation had an aura of "I've seen this before" that left me unenthused... as it stands, a movie about machines no longer working would have been more realistically thrilling than clunky robots with guns - (the human dependency on machines being challenged)...

can't they just release awesome soundtrack to movie treatments that aren't made yet but will suck (without actually making the crap movie)... itunes should have a soundtrack section for unmade movies, compiled by directors in the know (danny boyle, cameron crowe, etc.)
