I'm sure we would all love to see that team but can't see it happening. Sam is not a 442 manager but the lineup you have suggested makes sense. Almost a diamond formation with Nobes spraying the ball around from deep and Nolan sitting just behind the front two, latching onto anything that Maynard doesn't. It would scare the living daylights out of Boro but alas we are unlikely to see it. 433 with players out of position, ie central midfielders playing on the wing. Collison has been poor for a few games now and needs to be dropped, not rested. If you're not doing it on the pitch then you shouldn't expect to play each week. After our run of form something has to change.

I'll be watching the game via Hammers TV as a trip to East London midweek just isn't gonna happen.

Beer already chilling in the fridge and the wife has a new book to read. Leaving work in 2 hours and then time to get ready!!!

If it's not broke, why fix it?

I think the layout and content of the site is fantastic. You have guest posters every now and again whilst keeping the bulk of the blog your own.

Kepp up the good work Iain.

FYI - I won't be able to watch the game today so we are guaranteed to win. I'm going for 3-1 to us.

The only problem with Bobby Moore was his middle name and I've often wondered if he ever wanted to change it!!

At 31yrs of age I am too young to have seen him play. But my father, who is a Saints fan, saw he play on numerous occasions and I remember well the day I said to him - "Dad, who was Bobby Moore?". He didn't shut up for 20mins, remembering the greatness of the man and the footballer. This coming from a non-West Ham fan. At that point I started supporting West Ham. I was 9 years old and wanted to be associated with the same Club that Bobby Moore played for.

God Rest you Robert Chelsea Moore.

Iain, not sure I can add anything new to the excellent comments above. I have just finished reading the last part of the interview and found it thoroughly informative. To have someone like yourself - a trained and skilled interviewer - discussing all things West Ham with one of the current owners is nothing short of brilliant for the rest of us. 99% of West Ham fans will never have the opportunity to meet, let alone interview, the owners. Thank you for a job well done.

WHTID has been the number 1 West Ham site for some time now and long may that continue.

Iain, I echo many others with my congratulations to you for securing the interview - Sullivan is a busy man so to get a couple of hours of his time is a job well done.

Can you offer him my services also - I have not played at a decent level, nor coached. But I am a fully qualified referee, 1 step below semi-pro so I would be able to tell the players exactly what constitutes a red card!!! We've had 4 this season and that is too many!!

I can see Cole starting as he is a handfull for defenders. Unfortunately I can see it being a 433 with Maynard playing out wide. Hopefully I am proved wrong and Sam goes for a 442 with Maynard alongside Cole up top. With Vaz Te and Taylor whipping the balls into the box, Cole nodding them down and Maynard picking them up we should see a few goals. In theory anyway!!

Brilliant article. So Big Sam doesn't look to youth (as some people suggest on here).

Personally I would rather take the word of Tony Carr. If two per year get into the first team then that is a job well done. Well, well done!!!

A few people on here have suggested that Maynard plays on the wings - why??? He is a CENTRE forward, plain and simple.

Morrison is most likely lacking match fitness so we might not see him for a couple of weeks.

I would like us to go all out against Millwall;

Green
O'Brien Tomkins Faye Linda
Vaz Te Nolan Diop Taylor
Maynard Cole

Diop will cover the back line allowing the other three to bomb forward. Maynard has said he likes to get in behind so will hopefully feed off Cole's flick-ons.
